         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Key Facts - </strong>Elie was born in Sighet and had a good life there. He lived with his 3 sisters (Hilda, Bea, Tzipora) and Mom, and Dad. Eventually the Germans came and turned Sighet into ghettos were Jews were imprisoned before going to camps. <strong><br><br>Mood - happy ''physically he was an awkward as a clown. his waiflike shyness made people smile. as for me, I liked his wide dreamy eyes gazing off into the distance  <br><br>Theme -</strong>The Jews of SIghet lived a good happy life until their homes were turned into Ghettos and ultimately they were sent to the camps.<strong><br><br>Character Traits -  </strong>devout<br>“Why did I pray? Strange question. Why did I live? Why did I breathe?” pg 4<br><br><strong>Vocabulary Sentence -  </strong>The Germans put the Jews in peril when creating the ghettos and the camps. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Key Facts - This is the first concentration camp Elie and his family are taken to. Here he is separated from his mom and sisters (he never sees them again). He learns about the gas chamber which is the place Jews are sent to burn. Elie and his father go through the first selection and are chose for hard labor.  <br><br>Mood - scared <br><br>Theme -</strong>Auschwitz was a scary place because jews were getting exterminated.<strong><br><br>Character Traits - </strong><br><br><strong>Vocabulary Sentence - </strong>Amid all all the danger at the camp, Elie stuck to his father.</div>]]></description>
