An info-graphic is a popular form of content marketing that can help you simplify a complicated subject or turn an otherwise boring subject into a captivating experience. Ideally, an info graphic should be visually engaging and contain a subject matter and data that is appealing to your target audience …something that is truly ‘link worthy’ or ‘share worthy’.

THE PROS OF INFOGRAPHIC

Pros

They take paragraphs of information and translate them into graphics using minimal words to explain them.

They are easy to understand. We're all busy; some of us have short attention spans. Quick and easy is critical.

People retain approximately 83% of what they learn visually, a drastic increase from the 20% retained by reading.

Infographics are easy to share and will catch the eye of your reader.

They don't need to follow one template throughout; you can change the colors, format and even the style. Typically they start at the top and work their way down the image, however, you have the creative freedom design them in different ways.

THE CONS OF INFOGRAPHIC

Cons

They are time consuming to prepare. You can't just research and be done; you have to design the layout and graphics as well.

Search engines don't recognize infographics therefore they can't be indexed (although you can index the page where your infographic is hosted).

They don't always give a full story. There isn't room for paragraphs of information, so you're getting the watered down version. This can work as both a pro and con depending on what you are sharing.

The text can be hard to read if you try to cram too much information into a small image.
