Einsteins fascination and passion to the science department, during his time, was seen as odd and unusual due to the mere fact that no one understood what he was doing and society considered him crazy. Pathos: "These are the voices which we hear in solitude, but they grow faint and inaudible as we enter into the world", Emerson appeals emotionally to the audience in this quote by creating an atmosphere of independence in the text and has the aura from the text absorbed into the reader.
Logos:"Nothing is at last sacred but the integrity of our own mind" 
Emerson appeals logically to the readers by creating a simple sentence that makes sense to the reader. Every individual should trust his mind and instinct, and once the soul has done that, you can feel the voices of the outside world "fade away".
