Addition of a safety function or mechanism on lithium-ion batteries</div><ul><li>&nbsp; &nbsp; Confine smoke and thermal incident so as not to leak it from the unit (such as covering batteries).&nbsp;</li><li>&nbsp; &nbsp; Extinguish the ignited thermal incident (incorporating a cooling or smothering effect).</li><li>&nbsp; &nbsp; Preventing deformation of battery holding units (such as a structure to strengthen a holding unit of battery), etc. &nbsp;</li></ul><div>B. Feature or material enhancement of Lithium-Ion Battery</div><ul><li>&nbsp; &nbsp; A safety stop mechanism against thermal runaway.&nbsp;</li><li>&nbsp; &nbsp; A mechanism that would fully dissipate the cooling or heating in tackling generated heat.&nbsp;</li><li>&nbsp; &nbsp; Short circuit protection at the time of deformation (such as improvement of the separator strength).</li><li>&nbsp; &nbsp; Prevention of battery unit deformation (such as structure or material improvement of the battery units itself), etc.&nbsp;</li></ul><div>C. Utilization of non-inflammable secondary batteries with abilities equivalent to lithium-ion batteries.</div><ul><li>&nbsp; &nbsp; Novel secondary batteries comprised of non-inflammable material, etc.&nbsp;</li></ul><div><br>Requirements for Proposed Solution</div><ul><li>Should be as simple solution as possible that would surely function at the time of collision&nbsp;</li><li>Should be space-efficient, light-weight, and low-cost so as to fit into a passenger vehicle</li></ul><div><br>The following approach is out of the scope:</div><ul><li>Collision avoidance technology (such as operation control of vehicles)</li><li>Technology requiring complicating sensing or mechanism</li></ul>]]></description>
