Egypt borders the Mediterranean Sea in the north, Israel in the east, Sudan in the south and Libya in the west.
Climate: Hot and dry summers with moderate winters.
Capital Cities: Memphis, Thebes, Alexandria
River: The Nile River is the largest river in the world, stretching around 4,100 miles.  It provided fertile land for the Egyptians. 
Food: Egyptians farmed a number of crops including garlic, wheat, lentils, figs, dates, and onions.  They also ate fish gathered from the Nile River, as well as a number of other meats including birds, beef (though this was rather expensive and could only be consumed by those who could afford it), and eggs.
Common Occupations: Scribes, priests and priestesses, farmers and soldiers.

It was a polytheistic religion, which means numerous Gods were worshiped by the people.  They looked to them for help in all aspects of their life, from birth to death and even the afterlife. The people worshiped and praised the Gods rough daily rituals and festivals. 

Some included:
The Rebirth Celebration of Nehebkau: This festival occurred five days after the death of Osiris, and connected with the God's rebirth as well as the Egyptian king's rebirth as the living Horus.

The Festival Min: Min was a very important fertility God in Egypt and was heavily worshiped in the New Kingdom Era.  In this celebration, the king cut the first bundle of grain, which symbolically supported his role as life-sustainer of his people. It involved the harvest and some prayed for a male heir for the Pharaoh.

Heb-Sed Festival: This was a very special festival for the people, as it was only celebrated after a king had ruled for 30 years, then was celebrated every three years after that. It was to give hope for a long reign in the pharaohs afterlife. Courtyards and shrines dedicated to local deities were built in preparation of the important event, to show that the king's power extended all of Egypt.  One ritual preformed in this festival included the king giving offerings to the Goddess Sechat-Hor as she fed Horus (the King) her milk that granted immortality.

-It was supposedly created by Thoth, the God of Knowledge.
-The word Hieroglyph is Greek for "God's Words".
-The Egyptians believed these hieroglyphs were sacred, and thus carved them into important structures such as temples and tombs. 
-They were also used in the making of rituals and magic. One example of this includes the "Book of the Dead", which is a collection of texts that was used to assist a dead person's journey through the underworld.
-Priests used hieroglyphs to write down prayers and texts related to the afterlife and worship of the gods. (The picture below is a list of hieroglyphs that were used to represent the some Egyptian Gods)
-It is thought that they were first used as early as 3000 BC.
-Only around 3% of the population could actually read what was written in the Hieroglyphs.  The elite were the ones that could understand what was written.

-The Ancient Egyptians had over 2,000 gods.  However, most were only known locally in small parts of the empire.
-In some stories, Ra was eaten by Nut every night only to be reborn in the following sunrise.
-Ra sailed across the heavens in a boat called the 'Barque of Millions of Years'.
-The God Bes had a large number of roles, acting as the God of babies, mothers, households, nightmares, and even scorpion bites.
-For a short time, the Pharaoh Akhenaten made Egypt become monotheistic.  The single God they were to worship was Aten: the disk of the sun, attributed to Ra.
-The Pharaoh's role was to carefully maintain good relations with the Gods. Many believed that, upon his death, a Pharaoh would become a God if his heart weighed less than a feather.
-It was believed that Geb's laughter caused earthquakes.
-Though Thoth is normally portrayed with the head of an ibis, in some depictions, he is represented as a baboon.
