         <title>Revolution of the Sergeants 1933</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<ul><li><p>Causes/Effects: The revolution of the sergeants in 1933 was caused by the opposition of the Cuban people to president Gerardo Muchados attempt at placing himself in a position of power in 1928. The effect of this revolution is that it marked a turning point in the evolution of cuba It implemented nationalism in Cuba, and decreased US influence on Cuban affairs. </p></li><li><p>Context: The economic collapse of 1929 set a tone of distress upon the people of Cuba. Nationalism was growing and students and labor unions promoted the new society. It was anti-muchado protests that soon turned into a violent revolution. </p></li><li><p>Significance: This was significant because it was a turning point. It pointed cuba in the right direction as its society was changing.          <title> De-Facto Leadership - &quot;Shadow Government&quot; during the Great Depression</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<ul><li><p>Causes/Effects: The cause of Fulgencio Batistas de facto leadership was the revolt in 1933. This allowed him to overthrow the military and government to gain power and replace the regime of Carlos Manuel de Céspedes. The effect of this leadership was a rule through patronage rather than terror. He was an effective ruler. </p></li><li><p>Context: The dictator regime of Carlos Manuel de Céspedes was replaced by Batista in hopes to become a more effective ruler.</p></li><li><p>Significance: Once his term ended 1944, the country of Cuba returned to corruption, showing the positive impact Batista had on Cuba.          <title>Election and Cuban Constitution of 1940</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<ul><li><p>Causes/Effects: The cause of the Cuban constitution was Batista. Batista was influenced by ideas of the Cuban revolution such as nationalism. The constitution allowed nationalism to even further emerge within Cuba and continue the growth of those ideals.</p></li><li><p>Context: The Cuban revolution allowed Batista to make the decision of implementing a constitution.          <description><![CDATA[<ul><li><p>Causes/Effects: The cause if Cubas enterence into war was their geographical location at the enterence of the gulf of mexico. As a result of their enterence into the war, Cuba got the rep of having an efficient and co-operative military.</p></li><li><p>Context: Cuba was one of the first latin american countries to enter WWII. Cuba was one of the greatest beneficiaries of the American Lend Lease program.</p></li><li><p>Significance: The significance of this was that Cuba gained a good and strong reputation.          <description><![CDATA[<ul><li><p>Causes/Effects: The Coup d’etat 1952 was caused by the Cuban Constitutional army conflicted with the election. The result of this was the establishment of a military dictatorship within Cuba. </p></li><li><p>Context: Batistas rise to power began positive but during his second term he led with a dictatorship. His use of a military coup to intervene with the election resulted in a furthur dictatorship. </p></li><li><p>Significance: This further reinforced the dictatorship becoming increasingly present in cuba and established a military dictatorship. </p></li></ul>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<ul><li><p>Causes/Effects: The political and economic status of Cuba is one of the reasons for the ubringing of the Mafia in cuba. The result of the mafia in Cuba was that there was a significant increase of crime as well as cocaine activity. </p></li><li><p>Context: The strategic location of Cuba caught the eye of American gangsters, because it was close to the US.          <title> Reign of Terror 1950s</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<ul><li><p>Causes/Effects: The reign of terror was caused by Muchados second rule in 1928. The result of this was that it caused Martial Law and the suspension of freedom of speech. This was devastating for Cuban citizens. </p></li><li><p>Context: Cuba was experiencing prosperity before it was taken away through the reign of terror.          <description><![CDATA[<ul><li><p>Causes/Effects: The 26 of July movement was caused by the failed attack on the moncada barracks in Santiago de Cuba.          <description><![CDATA[<p><br/></p><ul><li><p>Causes/Effects: lt was caused by Fidel Castro in hopes to destroy the dictatorship of Batista. As a result, Castro was sucessful as Batista was forced to flee the island.</p></li><li><p>Context: 82 men sailed from Mexico to Cuba. Batista learned of the attack and fought the group and most was killed.
