One of Stevenson’s most famous friendships was with American author Henry James. The two met in 1876 and quickly became close friends. They shared a love for literature and often exchanged letters discussing their works and ideas. James admired Stevenson’s writing style and even dedicated his novel “The American” to him. Despite their different backgrounds and personalities, the two remained close friends until Stevenson’s death in 1894.

Some of his most famous works include “Treasure Island,” “Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde,” and “Kidnapped.”

One of Robert Louis Stevenson’s most well-known hobbies was traveling. He spent a significant portion of his life exploring various parts of the world, including Europe, America, and the South Pacific. His travels served as inspiration for many of his works, such as “Travels with a Donkey in the Cévennes” and “In the South Seas.”

Robert Louies Stevenson left a huge legacy of famous poems, writings, and even songs in his twenty years of being a Scottish writer. His most famous and remarkable poems are Treasure Island and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Stevenson found it important to include different types of genres in his works, as he loved to experiment with different genres and types of writing. This includes romances, gothic and Victorian styles, plays, poetry, and travel writing. Stevenson's legacy includes a work of 39 total published editions, up until his death at the age of 44.

Stevenson has influenced the world tremendously because of two factors: his origin/theme of his works, and how well-developed his characters are. In Stevenson's two famous stories, Treasure Island and The Strange Case of Dr.Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, there is a key idea: not being able to distinguish the different between good and evil. This idea is seen throughout of many of Stevenson's works and influenced other writers to have more complex themes in their works. Additionally, having a complex character and deeply describing a character's motives, personality, and beliefs is what made Stevenson's work so popular. Stevenson wrote characters, such as Jekyll, that struggled internally, with different personalities and personal struggles. Stevenson's complex and wildly different characters set a standard for other writers to create more complicated and intricate characters.

Robert Louis Stevenson was a Scottish novelist, poet, and travel writer. Initially it was expected of Stevenson to become a lighthouse engineer since it was a family business, but he compromised by going to law school. Instead of pursuing a career in law he became a writer, from an early age Stevenson had a passion for writing and becoming one. At the beginning of his career Stevenson was financially dependent on his father for money, because of his career's lack of income and fame. While he was talented his lack of experience left him struggling at first. He wrote a few pieces before he eventually published his first novel Treasure Island in 1883. Stevenson’s writing has led him to becoming one of the greatest writers of his time, leaving a legacy behind. He is recognized for his more popular works such as Treasure Island, A Childs Garden of Vines, Kidnapped, and Strange Case of Jekyll and Hyde. Several of his best work and writing often uses traveling adventures and voyages as their framework/layout, due to his constant traveling he integrated that into his novels and writing.
