Muscular Dystrophy is a sickness where the muscles get weaker and smaller over time. The most common kind is called Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. It happens because of a problem in the dystrophin gene that helps keep muscles strong. Without this gene functioning properly, muscles break down and are replaced by other tissue that doesn't function the same as muscle tissue. People with this condition usually have a tough time moving around, climbing stairs, or doing regular things. Unfortunately, there's no cure for Muscular Dystrophy right now, but doctors try to help manage the problems that come with it.
