I use this when I am meeting a student for the first time and we are just getting to know each other! I like to make them feel that I see them as a person first, and their disability second. This also allows them to learn a little about me, as well! I use game pieces and dice that I bring along instead of the print out spinner.

I use this resource occasionally through the year for those tricky sessions when students are extra tired, or after a big break or when it seems they need a session just to refocus. This comes in handy at the end of the school year, too! definitely not an every-session activity! I have a folder where I keep all my students partially-colored pictures...they get excited when I pull out The Purple Folder :)

ERFs - hardcopy and digital followup

Our program has "Educational Recommendations Forms" or ERFs for each student. These forms summarize the highlights of the student's IEP through the lens of their hearing loss, equipment, accommodations and service time. When I meet with teams at the start of the year, I give them a hardcopy of this document (I use it to guide the orientation)...then I follow up a week or so afterwards with the digital copy and a very brief summary of our visit.

Hi! This is one of my favorites to do at the beginning of the year with students. It is a great way to get back into seeing each other for sessions and seeing what terms/knowledge they remember from over the summer.

This one I use every year. I love how many different options it gives you for all students. I enjoy playing the games during the first session to get back into the school year. Then I love the goals and schedule for my middle and high schoolers. It gets them thinking about the school year and back into school as a listening environment. I have also sent out the equipment pictures over the summer for students to color and bring back to me when we are back in school.

I use this resource each year for student's to write to their next school year teacher! I then keep these over summer and then at inservices with the teachers I provide them this letter! Allows the teachers to see the student's writing ability as well.

This resource could really be for end of the year or beginning of the year! It covers vocabulary for audiograms, parts of hearing aids, parts of the ear, etc! Good review for end of the year and good baseline for beginning of the year!

I like to use this as a baseline in the beginning of the year for students with self advocacy goals (so everyone) to see where we need to start and what we already have core knowledge on! I also really like this for new students I get on my caseload each year!

An inservice resource I use to give to teachers at the beginning of the school year! A quick handout and I like to add accommodations for each student! I also make a powerpoint for the inservice and share it through canva as well with teachers!
