Charleston Southern University (CSU) became the first private college in the state to help pay in-state students’ tuition costs when it launched “Buc Promise,” a new CSU scholarship program for Pell Grant-eligible students.

The scholarship covers the remainder of these students’ tuition costs not already funded by the Pell Grant and other financial aid.

To qualify, students must reside in South Carolina, hold an unweighted GPA of 3.5, complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), enroll in a traditional degree program, be actively pursuing their first bachelor’s degree and be eligible for more than the minimum amount offered through the Pell Grant.

The 2024-25 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) will introduce the most significant changes to the financial aid application in the past 40 years. These changes are a result of the FAFSA Simplification Act, passed by Congress in 2020, and will be effective beginning in the 2024-2025 award year.

Youth Volunteer Corps (YVC) of Charleston will hold the annual Summer of Service (SOS) for four weeks starting in June and ending in August. Youth in Charleston, Dorchester, and Berkeley counties, aged 11-18, are eligible to attend, but space is limited to 15 youth per week, so register early! 

The SOS provides youth with information on community needs throughout the four weeks to introduce them to volunteerism and community service. Youth will hear from guest speakers, and participate in communication, leadership, and teamwork activities and lessons to develop soft skills and gain a better understanding of the needs of their community. In addition, youth will have the opportunity to participate in service-learning volunteer events and to create/update their resume to reflect their service. 

The SOS will have middle school leadership days specifically for rising 7th and 8th graders (in the upcoming 2024-25 school year) and will have volunteer event days where all YVC youth (ages 11-18) are invited to attend service-learning volunteer projects throughout the community.

The exact dates of the SOS are as follows: June 24^th – 27^th, July 15^th – 18^th, July 22^nd – 25^th, and August 8^th – 11^th. Classroom-based programming will be located at CE Williams Middle School – North Campus and the service-learning volunteer events will be held at various locations. AIAA and Club for the Future's Resilient Student Scholarship was created in 2023 with a profound commitment to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in the aerospace industry. A. Applicant must be a full time resident of South Carolina and a senior in a public or private high school or home school in South Carolina.

B. Applicant must complete the online application form in its entirety.

Nepotism Policy for Scholarship Awards

II. Award:

A. Applicant will be judged based on need, academic and extra-curricular achievement, communication skills, and on aptitude for completion of application.

B. Scholarship recipients will be notified by email and phone using the contact information provided in their application. Notifications will occur in late April or May. It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that all contact information is accurate and regularly monitored. Recipients must respond within 10 business days of the initial notification. Failure to respond within this timeframe will result in forfeiture of the scholarship, and an alternate recipient will be selected. No exceptions will be made.

C. Scholarship will be paid directly to the treasurer’s office of the college or university attended.

D. Fifty-Four (54) $10,000 scholarships will be awarded to students across the state to be paid at the rate of $2,500 per year over a four-year period. Students pursuing two-year degrees will receive $2,500 per year over the two year period.

E. One (1) of the fifty-four (54) $10,000 scholarship will be awarded to a Circle K employee or dependent to be paid at the rate of $2,500 per year over a four-year period. Students pursuing two-year degrees will receive $2,500 per year over the two year period.

• Must be a current Charleston, Berkeley, or Dorchester County resident graduating high school senior attending college in 2026, or a currently enrolled undergraduate college student.

• Must submit an up-to-date high school or college transcript.

• Must submit a list of school activities, special honors and awards, and community involvement activities.

• Must submit a 500-to-800-word essay in response to one of the topics above.

• Essays plagiarized or copied from any source will be automatically disqualified.

• Essays written by someone other than the student are prohibited, including AI-generated content.

We are excited to invite applications from your senior students for our Summer Internship at Charleston ENT & Allergy. This opportunity is especially valuable for students with a strong interest in the medical field who may not yet have a clear post-graduation plan or opportunity. Our goal is to provide hands-on experience, mentorship, and insight into careers in healthcare.

We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and are especially mindful of students who may not have the same access to professional development opportunities. Our hope is to create an environment where driven, curious students—regardless of their circumstances—can gain exposure to the healthcare field and take meaningful steps toward their future goals.

At the end of the internship assessment, students will be eligible for a potential offer of employment with Charleston ENT & Allergy. If hired, individuals will also be eligible to test for the NHA certification as a Certified Medical Assistant one year after their start date. Resources and study materials to prepare for certification will be provided.

An applicant must be a 2026 graduating high school senior with a minimum 3.0 overall GPA in

high school. In addition, applicants must also be either: (1) a South Carolina resident, or (2) planning

to attend an accredited South Carolina college, university, or trade school to study International

Trade, Supply Chain Management, Business, Manufacturing, Engineering or Science.

The selection and ranking criteria, in order of importance, are:

● Demonstrated interest in International Trade, Supply Chain Management, Business,

Manufacturing, Engineering or Science;

● Current academic standing and performance (must be a graduating high school senior with a

minimum 3.0 overall GPA);

● Narrative and letter of recommendation; and

● Honors and extracurricular activities.

1. Submit a TTC admission application to the TTC Admissions Office. Once processed, students will receive their TTC student ID number and email account.

2. Submit an official high school transcript (through junior year) to the Admissions Office.

3. Submit SAT/ACT scores to Admissions OR complete the TTC placement test.

After these items are completed, students will be able to access the scholarship application through the my.tridenttech.edu student portal.

Current medical students serve as mentors to participants and guide them through the process of preparing for a career in medicine. The program consists of a series of monthly large-group sessions and individual one-on-one sessions with a student mentor. Participants are provided mentoring through various endeavors such as clinical shadowing experiences, educational discussions, test taking and study skills, exposure to various summer science programs, and academic guidance. This program grew from ‘A Gentleman and A Scholar' and 'A Lady and A Scholar' mentoring programs that were developed by former MUSC College of Medicine students.
