On the first day, I was really nervous since I had never taught English to young students. The teacher introduced me and all the little children were so excited to have a new teacher in the class. She told them that I was going to teach them English and many of them were so excited to know that they were going to have English. I sat at the back so I could watch them while they were having a class about numbers. I realized that my job was not going to be easy but I was going to enjoy it so much. Many of the students stared at me and wanted to know when they were going to have their first class. Two girls came next to me and asked my age and my favourite colour. I stayed with them more than the specified time since they integrated me in a game. We played " Pato Ñato" with them so I had to run in high heels. They laughed at me since I was a kind of clumpsy running with these type of shoes.

On my second day, they were waiting for my as the teacher had already mentioned that I was going to go. I took some lolly pops so as soon as I entered, they ran to hugh me. I felt so happy to be welcomed like this. Once again, I sat at the back, this time they were playing a game with their teacher. They had to say how many lines were on the board as they were carrying out the activity one of the girls counted in English and many of her classmates follow her. I was so moved about this since they were very excited and anxious to learn English.
After this game, they had to sit on their little desks so they came really close to me and two girls came again next to me. They asked for my help to colour their homework. This time, I wore trainers so I could play with them in case they wanted but as they had music, I had to leave the class as I was leaving, one boy " Lautaro" came and hughed me. I left so happy again but I knew that my first class was just around the corner so I was starting to get the jitters.

The night before my first class, I spent many hours cutting and sticking papers for my little students. I knew that I was going to be nervous. It didn´t matter that I have been teaching for almost 10 years, It was my first kindergarten class and to make my situation even worse I was going to be recorded and observed by a colleague.
I arrived a few minutes early as I could not find a place to park my car so I was more nervous than I expected to be but as soon as the teacher opened the door I felt so welcomed.
All my new little students were waiting for me so I started my class right away.
I realized that it did not matter how well I prepared the songs or listenings I had always some type of problem so I had to sing without the music the warm up song. I thought I sounded horrible but they were so happy and relaxed that we all sang together.
All the activities that I had planned were developed in my first class and I made for each of them a "heroe card" which they were suppossed to keep for their next class.
I have to confess that I have never felt so satisfied with a class as I felt this time

The second class was really interesting and exciting. All my little kids were waiting for me so as soos as I arrived, we started to sing the welcome song. They loved the activities as they had to paint with acuarelas. They sat in circles so they could work better with their hands and their works. One of the boys was gettting bored as he finished early the activity so I had to give him an extra activitiy to do while the rest finished. At this time, I realized that It was a good thing to have extra activities to the the early finishers if not they started walking around and interrupting the rest of the class. The class carryed on as I had expected. At the end of the class, we played a game as I had previously taught them the colour. The game was called mommy colour, they had to run and touch the colour I had said out loud. They had a blast playing this game since at one moment I shouted " Red" and all of them run to touch their teacher and they all fell over her. At the end of this class, I started to understand how little kids learn and that these kids are different from how we were, they are more stimulated so a song was rather boring for them as in the middle of the class, we sang a song but they did not seem to be so engaged as they were when they had to do manual activities.

My third class

After two weeks, I could give my third class as I had got extremely sick and after this the teacher could not make me a time to give the class since the kids were in the middle of a project. It was really exciting to return to see those little faces. They were extremely happy to see me but they seemed to have forgotten the welcome class and the what´s your name question so I had to revise with them those items again. After this, I could start with the class. As I spent a few minutes practising the song, we lost a few minutes so I had to skip some planned activities, during this class they revised the previous taught vocabulary and I taught the shapes so it was a mixture of colours, numbers and shapes. I made a photocopy to complete and then I planned a game. It was a lovely class in which the kids were more relaxed and confident with me and the new vocabulary. In the photocopy, they had to match the shapes and the correct number. Most of them did the activty. However, a few were a kind of lost since they had skept class.

I got into the classroom as usual and they were waiting for me again willing to sing and start with the English class. We sat in a big circle but this time I sat in a little chair since my tutor had advised me to do it. This actually worked better as I could have eye contact with all of them and help them to sing the welcome song. I continued with the class but this time I had three little students from another class as they were only five in my class so I had to explain them as fast as I could the numbers, colours and shapes. To my surprise, my little students helped me to explain the new students, we did a copy in which they had to paint with acuarelas. They loved doing that and after this activity they played the treasure hunt. I had hidden some colours shapes in the classroom so I wrote on the board how many shapes were and the kids had to look for them. The winner won a little bag with candies. At the end of the class, they hughed me and said they loved me. I was extremely sad to leave such a wonderful class. I had a lovely and rewarding experience with them

Teaching to such a little kids, it was a really nice experience but at the same a really stressfull one as in the town I live kindergarten do not have English. It was a new project. I believe that kids enjoyed and learnt in the very brief classes we had. At the end, I handed them a portfolio with all their workd in it so they could remember me and their work during the English classes. The students´ parents asked why I could not continue teaching them as their kids were extremely happy and interesting with the classes so I can conclude that my experience in kindergarten was more enjoyable than I thought it was going to be.
