Prior to joining the academia, Dr. Nazlan held various managerial positions in hospitality operations. As a certified hospitality educator (CHE) from the American Hotel and Lodging Educational Institution, she teaches various subjects ranging from Food &amp; Beverage Cost Control to Hospitality Strategic Management. <br><br>She has experienced the best of both worlds, having taught in the United States as well as in Malaysia. They will experience firsthand the potential of AI tools in redesigning rubrics, optimizing them for efficiency and effectiveness.<br><br></div><div><strong>Duration:</strong> 45 minutes<br><br><strong>Materials:</strong> Each participant or group will need a computer with internet access and a rubric they've previously used or designed in Session 3.<br><br></div><div><strong>Instructions:</strong></div><ol><li><strong>Introduce the AI Rubric Redesign Challenge (5 minutes):</strong><ul><li>Participants will work in pairs or small groups for this activity.</li></ul></li><li><strong>Exploring AI Rubric Tools (10 minutes):</strong><ul><li>Share a list of simple AI rubric tools (for example, Quick Rubric, Rubistar, etc.) with participants.</li><li>Allow participants time to explore these tools, understanding the features and how they can be used to automate or improve rubric design.</li></ul></li><li><strong>Redesigning Rubrics (20 minutes):</strong><ul><li>Ask each pair or group to select a rubric they have previously used or the one they designed in Session 3.</li><li>Using one of the AI tools, they should try to redesign the rubric, focusing on improving its efficiency, clarity, and effectiveness.</li><li>They should consider how the AI tool helps in aligning the rubric with the learning outcomes and grading criteria.</li></ul></li><li><strong>Presentation and Reflection (10 minutes):</strong><ul><li>Ask a few groups to share their original rubric and the redesigned version, discussing the changes they made and why.</li><li>Encourage other participants to give constructive feedback and ask questions.</li></ul></li></ol><div><br>This activity should give participants a practical understanding of how AI tools can be used to enhance rubric design.
