The beginning of this module involves making a Stop Motion Animation that fundamentally involves Lip-syncing. We were tasked to go in groups for obvious reasons and are given 1 minute of animation for the respective member of the group. Here is the spidergram of our Group project called "Despot Productions" (Title for the sake of Irony or Satire) consisting of me, Gabe and Matisse. This Spider gram demonstrates our plans for the Animation.

IT Studio

Prior to this Studio lesson, we help organize a Group chat in WhatsApp as it was vital to help plan on where we can all meet and rendezvous.

Back to this Lesson, we were about the different methods of lighting, only lighting nothing else. I took charge on Dragonframe and controlling the Lighting while Gabe helps position the camera and the focus. The lightings range from Front to side, back, Top, Edge and so on and so fourth.

No Lectures gave us the opportunity to meet up and help make an Audio Interview that should be realistic and not scripted. We eventually did it twice but ultimately chose the latter as the main audio for the Stop Motion Animation. We later edit the audio from 11 Minutes to 3 minutes 23 seconds.

In this task, me & Gabe were told how to create a prop via scale to compare to its actual size ranging from 1:10. There were various options to choose which specific objects we want to create and ultimately we chose the Simpsons Iconic Couch. It's the first time either of us are making a prop via the Cook Building. Gabe uses the Glue Gun for the last part while I did the cutting and alongside Gabe use the Sand paper blocks.

IT Studio

During the IT Studio, we are tasked to do different shots with 2 different props. Gabe was mostly in charge of the Camera positions & Focus lens, while I did the Dragonframe and help change the different lens for specific shots. The Shots in question include Wide, Mid, Close-up, Dutch Angle, Extreme close up and Over Shoulder.

With no Lectures, we met at the SLD to help edit the Audio Interview we did last week which was 11 minutes long. Afterwards, we later plan to design the set and what that set is. Ultimately it was my idea of a Wild West styled Saloon that became the basis. Gabe was responsible for drawing the set while Matisse and I are responsible for either references or ideas. Gabe would also draw puppet designs while me and Matisse later followed.

During the IT Labs session, me & Gabe were tasked to do lip-syncing in Dragonframe. We decided to use Gabe's recorded line as the basis for lip-syncing. Using the Audio section of Dragonframe plus the tutorial instructed by Leslie-Ann, we were able to create our lip-synced audio.

Tasked by Gabe to make the Barrel and with the help of Julian (Cook Building Technician), I was able to make the base shape of the Barrel. Afterwards, I was advised to make rectangle shaped thin wood to make the bilge with double-sided tape to make it ressemble what an actual Barrel would look like.

I was first tasked to remove the papers and uneven blub of dried Gorilla Glue with scissors. Then I was told to add the padding foam and help stick it in with a needle to help keep it in place. The 1st attempt was rough and not well-planned.

Unexpectedly, the left arm came lose while Needling the wool. Besides that, wool is now getting tighter.

Here's the whole facial part of the Puppet. Painted the button dark grey for the nose, the other 2 painted the middle with black for the eyes, pieces of grey fabrics used as ears and the Moustache sticked with Super glue. After drying, painted the fabric for the Moustache Black. Adding 2 other fabrics for the Eyebrows. The Puppet's head was painted black to match the hairlines.

To finish off Monday, I added Gorilla Glue to the disconnected arm hoping this time it stays connected. Then later kept it standing by the wall near Matisse's Puppet.

And what do you know, it's now glued in and is standing. During this course, I tied up some loose ends for the puppet get acquiring feedback from Aaron such as glue more on the sleeves of the shirts to keep it tight as it was loose. The same for the bottom part. Furthermore, Gabe insists to add a hole on the back wooden part of the puppet. All of those tasks I have achieved.

While half way through, I changed the position of the Saloon encouraged by both Gabe and the Lectures of Stop Motion like Leslie. Here is the full picture of the result of changing the position. Granted me and Gabe initially had an issue on trying to make a wall on the left side given the Door section is taken off but eventually trying to make that wall blend in paid off.

After painting the entire list of Lipsyncs, I started adding aluminum metals into the mouth to help stick to the Magnet, sticking it with Super Glue. However, the Magnets within the Puppet's Mouth didn't really stick to the Puppet. Because of this, me and Gabe decided to use Glue dots instead and it worked.
