I saw many academic writings, journal articles which were genuine and had DOI numbers and other details needed for citation and reference purpose. There were links from where we could download the citations too.
I learned that there are various researchers who have uploaded their work on such open sources. I learned that learners suffer form various types of anxieties which teachers fail to recognize and wrongly judge students which in fact is counter productive.
Regarding internet search for academic sources, I found that many of articles are found free of cost online. I came to know that internet search with various search engines and websites significantly help the scholar like us to sharpen the academic writing habit. The way you taught about quoting, paraphrasing, documenting source and integrating the source and arguments were really amazing.

Previously, I was little familiar with MLA but today I knew about APA. I had an assumption that credit for citing is just showing respect to the author but today I realized that its not about giving respect rather for the credibility for our own.
Overall, it's really fruitful.

I teach my students how to write authentically, but most are not enthusiastic enough for quoting, paraphrasing, and referencing. They either copy and paste from the Internet or write completely nonsense. It's because they are habituated in rote learning and memorization. However, I have never compromised with my efforts to teach them writing properly. The stuff you discussed today were not new to me except using Padlet for writing this feedback. You cannot republish even your own writing as it does not add new knowledge to the intellectual world. The workshop reiterated the idea that you can cite sources that are relevant to your argument. The workshop also shed light on the ways of citation with quotes, summary and paraphrases. I had not realized before that the citation should be followed by the explanation. I generally used to include sources after my argument but I am going to change that with explanation of what the source means and how it is connected to my idea.

Regarding the idea to take to apply for myself including my writing students, it would be the way of quotation and summarization of the source. I chose it primarily because it determines the academic quality of your writing saving you from plagiarism which is one of the most essential aspects of an intellectual contribution. The citation technique in APA style is another take away for me. Overall, I enjoyed working actively both in google doc. and Padlet. I hope to such more on the Day 3.

The most difficult task for me while writing is to be able to insert the literature in the right place. Many of us fail to triangulate our research ideas and the literature that we have collected. Henceforth, the huge mismatch can be seen in our writing. But, I can say that we had clear concept on how to introduce our statement and how to summarize/ quote or paraphrase the literature review in our text. Similarly, we are also aware of some of the technological ideas like pad let. I am confident that we can also use such applications in our writing classes.

Likewise, though the course was about writing I am also now aware of some techniques of reading the given texts. The task on yesterday’s class was very useful for us to actually learn to read the literature that we have collected for our research. The five questions that we tried to answer was teaching us to scan the text and summarize it at the same time. Searching the answer for those question required very minimum amount of time but we could summarize the whole article in a very short span of time.

Having said this, I am trying to focus that the skill that we learnt in those classes was really a lifesaving skill for us.

Knowing the difference between article abstract and conference abstract was equally important for us. Many times we mix these two types of abstract. Having a real time experience of writing and editing abstract made us understand more about the key issues of abstract writing.

Introduction to Rubrics and their designs will surely help us in designing rubrics for regular class purpose and for research purpose as well.

After getting the rich content from those four days we can say that the time we spent for last four days were worth it.

My sincere gratitude to the master of the workshop and the facilitator as well. All the sessions were filled with tremendous knowledge related with research writing. To be honest, I acquired various skills and how to hit directly with the techniques of writing research topic and methodologies. The four -days classes wouldn't be effective without the activities that we did practically through different ways.
I feel Rubrics and its ways to design can help even our young learners to write any piece of writing effectively. It was an insightful sessions, though I didn't write well during the sessions. Glad to spent four days with bunch of knowledge.
