1. Ralph thinks that he is losing his title as leader. He feels threatened, the goal of being saved is not a main priority right now. They kids see ralphs priorities and how he stands out as a leader. The kids follow him and treat him like he is their leader.
2. Ralph discusses the building of shelter the fire and where people will use the bathroom. The main thing he addresses is the beast and his fear of it. He admits he is in fact afraid of this beast in the woods. This is Ralph trying to assert dominance before Jack influences the others in the group. He is trying to act like a leader.
4. Piggy means that there is no crazy wild beast that they don't already know of. The things on the island are in real life and are not some made up monster. He is trying to keep the kids calm and make them more in reality. He is trying to tell them that their is nothing to fear other then being frightened by the other people.
6. Simon talks about how the real beast is their self. He means that the only thing that they should be afraid of is the dark side of human nature. This increases the savagery and the wild side of people. More and more people are pointing fingers causing tension to rise in the group. This causes more people to go crazy and act more animalistic.

1. Ralph is talking about things he did as a form of copping. Biting his nails and things like that. He then says something about sucking his thumb. He does not want anyone to hear this because it shows weakness and that is not what they need from a leader. The act of talking to himself shows the feeling of loneliness and how he has no one else to talk to.
3. The hunters as well as Ralph find a pig. They decide to pretend that it is Robert. The are killing it and chanting while doing so. Even Ralph begins to do the same. This is shocking because he was so against this. It shows that even Ralph will begin to act like a savage and how it is spreading to Ralphs mind as well.
5. He decides to go up the mountain to look for the beast at night. I believe he does this to show to the other kids that he is not afraid and how he is stronger. Ralph is conflicted on going up the mountain because he knows that it is dangerous and hazardous to the other boys. However he still goes in order to prove that he is as brave and strong as Jack.
