Hickel(2016) argues that economic system can play major role in order to stop climate change.I agree with the writer because the majority of companies<del>y</del> and producers damage the <del>to</del> world. They use fossil fuels and this is deteriorating our environment at a <del>in</del> big ratio. Moreover, companies need to stop using fossil fuels, they should prefer clean energy in industry because burning of fossil fuels create greenhouse gases and this produces gases which are dangerous like methane and nitrous oxide (briefly explain why are they dangerous?).In addition, consumption is important for climate change because overconsumption brings more production and when producing these <del>this</del> products, fossil fuel is used<del>ing</del>. Climate<del> change</del> is affected at <del>in </del>this point. Therefore, people need to change their economic system with an <del>as</del> environmentally friendly one. For example, Hickel (2016) claims that, “ Clean energy won’t nightmare (check grammar here), but rethinking our economic system might. Now, we know that it doesn’t make us any happier, and it is consequences produce all sorts of social and environmental issues, debt, overwork, inequality, and climate change” (p.30) <del>page 30</del>.Therefore, new global economy can provide us with a more environmentally world (Ahmet you need to explain your reasons, why cannot clean energy help? how can we change the economic system? and why should we change it?).

In short, with Hickel, I believe that we should change our economic system into an<del>s</del> environmentally friendly one in order to fix climate change problem. The only viable solutions is the economic system changes (state who would you suggest this article? and why?.

The article written by Laura Parker (2018) “ Planet or Plastic” gives an eye opening and alarming perspective on an otherwise disregarded issue that has negatively impacted the world warning us that since the production of plastic, while it’s benefits are acknowledged the pay off is far too great and destructive. Around the 19th century the material known as plastic was produced and advertised as a easy to make ,cheap and easy to dispose of material for consumers and injected with specific chemicals it was easy to change its shape to what ever the public pleases. Shockingly scientists had discovered that a marginal percentage of the plastic products were not recycled and have turned to waste and were unable to dispose of the products causing a manageable pollution. Decades have passed since then and plastic productions have done nothing but increase exponentially but again to the scientists surprise the plastic pollution has not increased in the same exponential rate, it was later discovered that plastic material have dissolved and turned into microscopic size that has started to make up 15 % of beaches in Hawaii and other remote islands, also dissolving into the ocean water endangering ocean life and endangering already endangered species and due to this recent finding of micro plastics in ocean life of has affected the human diet, officially classifying plastic beyond the ability of waste management and labeling it as a hazardous material. The author then uses a powerful quote to show the alarming importance of the issue “it’s a good time for people to understand that our oceans are a dump”(<del>Kathleen</del> Dohan as cited in Parker, 2018) which helps illustrate the horrifying picture of the reality and future that is yet to come.

Make sure you refer to the author as you summarize her ideas and use linkers so that the readers can follow the ideas much better. Some details need to be removed.

Please post your response here too.

Thank you.

In the article entitled “Planet or Plastic ? “ Parker (2018) claims that plastics have a lot of benefits. However, it has many harmful sides. The writer states that plastics was invented<del> in </del>around 1950’s and after 1950’s plastics have become useful materials in our lives. Even though plastics are very useful, it leads to pollution because of people's <del>human</del>

insensivity. They throw away plastic bottles and these bottles not only <del>never</del> mixed with soil (goes into our soil) but also harmful for environment. Parker (2018) tries to convince the readers by giving examples that in 1950 2.3 million tons plastic bottles produced but in 1993 it grew up 162 million tons plastic bottles. Also 162 million tons waste (do not go into details in summary - plastic production has grown dramatically). The writer also highlights that people know how to throw plastic bottles into garbage but they do not do this. The author uses various scientist comments and solutions to increase readers knowledge about plastic material’s problems (avoid generic statements like this. Supporting ideas are missing and the main argument is missing)

Parker (2018) argues that people (do not - full forms only) don’t see plastic material<del>’</del>s' exact harms. Even though I think we will see big and insoluble harms in future, we already suffer from Plastic material<del>’</del>s' harms today. <del>Nowadays</del> (avoid generic expressios like this, be specific) as the author mentioned plastic materials are used<del>ing</del> in diverse (more academic way of saying a lot of) a lot of fields such as food and car industry. And still people are not <del>don’t</del> aware of <del>plastic material’s harms</del> negative effects of plastic or they aware but don’t want to take action because of economic issues (these two sentences do not support each other. Fist you mention the benefits then you state that people are not aware of its negative impacts). According to the research 350 million plastic bottles are produced in 2018 in food industry (cite your resource here, where does this information come from?)). These bottles are directly <del>arrive people’s</del> used by people. So people haven’t got enough information about the harm of plastic bottles <del>harms and when they use their products which in plastic materials,</del> they throw away these materials. Then these materials fissure <del>become tiny shivers</del>. These <del>shivers mixed</del> go into everything such as water, food and <del>so these shivers</del> cause cancer which people suffer from or animals drink water with plastic <del>shivers </del>and <del>because of chemicals which plastic materials include become animals patient</del> and they may suffer from diseases and even <del>will</del> die. And I think plastic materials already damage our lives in significant ways <del>rousingly</del>. Furthermore, Parker (2018) didn’t present proof that plastic material’s harms in current days (check grammar here. She only deals with future harms (doesn't she state what is happening today?!) You need to make sure you state the author's idea then explain your reasons in a clear manner and make sure you do not change the author's idea. Please work on it and then get feedback again.

To wrap up, although the author wants to highlight the risks of <del>solve </del>plastic <del>bottles harms</del>, I do not agree with the idea of taking action in the near future <del>his perspective which want to take action for future</del>. Some actions have to be taken rapidly because many people <del>person</del> and animals suffer from plastic related issues <del>die because of plastic material’s harms</del>. This article could be interesting for readers who are interested in plastic materials and who want to learn more <del>gain information</del> about the harm of plastic <del>bottle’s harms</del>.

Please go over my feedback.

In the article “Clean energy won’t save us – only a new economic system can” <del>Jason</del> Hickel (2016) discussed/discusses that instead of clean energy, changing economic system is the main topic for climate change. Hickel defended/defends that clean energy will not save the environment because if the world will have %100 of clean energy, nothing will not change because the world will use this energy for the same situation which is infinite economic growth. He mentioned/mentions that people are changing their idea about fossil fuels and taking important steps for the environment, however; Hickel mentioned/mentions that that fossil fuels are the reason of 70% percent of greenhouse gas emissions<del> reason </del>but other industrial non-fossil fuels resources are 30% percent even every day this percentage is increasing and these resources are worse than fossil fuels (does the writer actually state that;?). This economic system is built on over- consumption<del>ing</del> because of the fact that the world is trying to produce everyday more and more. This economic system is harmful for people’s social and environmental life. He showed some social problems which are <del>that;</del> overwork, inequality or debt. He concludes <del>finished the article with</del> <del>solution way and he gave an example that another</del> by stating that some countries have done <del>can do</del> this therefore the writer is hopeful. ’<del>s aim was giving an hope for their future because of this he was informative and critical in order to give effective information to people for their future important steps. </del>(this information does not add up to content.) (make sure you use linkers and reporting verbs that reflect the author's attitude)

Hickel (2016) urges that economic system change is more important than fossil fuels. <del>In the first paragraph</del> he start by <del>with</del> criticizing fossil fuels and he mentioned that fossil fuels are killing us so we need to stop using them immediately. Writer goal was take people attention for climate change after he supported his own thought (this does not add up to meaning). He highlights that the economic system is causing a big environmental problem, “What would we do with 100% clean energy? Exactly what we’re doing with fossil fuels”(p<del>g</del>.3). How are they related: economic system and clean energy?) He supported himself that if people will have %100 percentage clean energy again they will use it for industrial production of cement, steel, plastic forms (do nor use etc. in academic writing<del> etc. )</del>He explained that what type of source is not important; people are using the source for what is important (language hinders understanding). This economic system requires <del>wants</del> infinitive growth and consumption<del>ing</del>. He mentioned that climate movement is making a mistake by <del>for </del>focusing on fossil fuels instead of economic system. He concludes t<del>he article with </del>by giving message that <del>about</del> there is still a chance for saving the world. <del>Instead of</del> maximizing human wellbeing, lowering ecological footprint is right way and there are <del>is</del> some countries which are doing this (you need to explain if you agree or disagree with the writer's ideas and why? this is more a summary but not a response).

I think Hickel is right about the logic of infinite economic growth and consumption<del>ing is very important</del>. All countries should consider <del>turn their face to</del> these effective solutions (also state who can benefit from reading this article?),
Thank you.

In the article titled “Planet or Plastic” ,<del> Laura </del>Parker (2018) discusses the plastic’s effect in our lives. He is worried about t<del>hat the wasting of</del> plastic waste that is increasing by the time passes. Plastic does not separate into the molecules (but the writer claims that it fissures); therefore, it causes pollution.
