A poem written by the British novelist and poet Rudyard Kipling to U.S. imperialism.
He was famous for defending the British Empire. He claimed that the western world protected the colonial countries against their mutual wars and corruption. The western world was technologically and economically superior, they were more civilized. So, the British Empire saw them colonizing as a moral duty to help other countries. That was “The White Man’s Burden.” They had a responsibility to help/civilize the natives, and that was the burden. They also had to safe their souls. The natives were not Christians so otherwise they would just go to hell. The colonists also claim that the natives were ungrateful of the colonists. They were acting childish, so the burden was also to raise them.
