I observed that considerable time is spent by the consultants within the business responding to design issues caused by trees on development sites. Frequently a design scheme has been drawn up without taking tree into account. It was to address this established 'learning gap' about the BS5837 process amongst other professionals that a short CPD Seminar was developed by the team at Advanced Arboriculture. When delivered, it was very well recieved, but it was time consuming to present, and the availability of professionals was frequently difficult to manage. This resulted in the idea for an asynchronus, on demand online digital course version. 'Trees on Development Sites' course is based upon that CPD seminar. The learner profiles are based upon real clients that Advanced Arboriculture regularly work with.

In putting together the course, it was my aim to follow good practise in digital learning development by engaging subject matter experts to gather content for the course, and work closely with them to craft its style and delivery. I was able to meet with the consultant team at Advanced Arboriculture regularly to ensure the details included in the content were accurate and relevant, as well as utilising the materials already produced in the previously-produced CPD seminar. 
The format of the course loosely follows the CPD seminar but was re-structured slightly to make for a linear flowing course format. The development of the 'what' module overview and then the scoping document for module 3, and the subsequent wireframe and screen plan was critical to this process. The introduciton and module 3 prototype submitted is iteration number 3; after feedback from the team on various aspects. 

In terms of visual design, I have tried to go for a simplicity, based on an existing theme in PowerPoint which was then transferred into Articulate Storyline. The green colour scheme links with the environmental nature of the business.
I hoped that adding the Advanced Arboriculture corporate branding alongside the welcome video from Tom Hurley, ensures a clear branded product; which I hope to go on and develop into a full course in the future. I selected Module 3 for the prototype because it was the lengthiest module within the course, ensuring that I could highlight most clearly the essesnce of the course. 

Finally, I admit that the development of the storyboard was not always entirely ahead of creating the content in Storyline! I found the software fairly intuitive (and interesting) to use, and so I found myself creating the content directly into the software, rather than in the storyboard first. I lattetly added in the details to the storyboard where they were created in Storyline first so that the two tie in.
