I believe this society Jonas lives in is a dystopia. With the amount of rules and regulations they have, the people are not properly able to be themselves without worrying about rules; such as bragging. Jonas couldn't even take an apple without being called out for it, and the little girls must wear bows (properly tied and NEAT) every day until a certain age. Something about this society, that comes off as so calm and perfect, does't quite feel right.

Yes, the community is well put together and they are all polite and have strict rules to run by so nothing goes wrong, but imagine having to live by such strict rules all the time. Why is everyone forcibly given a certain job randomly and the people can't choose for themselves? Why do strangers name the child instead of the parents? It's definitely Dystopia
