He struggles to reach it, but he continues on without giving up. For example,  Alex Rider has to swim through a tunnel full of water that is dark. He is well aware that he is risking his life for his goal which in this case is his mission. However, knowing that he doesn't want to lose his young life. Another example in the book is that shows the theme is when Alex Rider is put alone in an authorized house. He can continue to just sleep, but he risks his life to go through an army of guards and seek information for his mission. Also, Alex Rider is put inside a glass tank full of water and a gigantic jellyfish. He barely manages to escape, but after this horrifying event he doesn't stop on his mission. Despite his hardship he continues on after he almost drowned. Despite this happening Ross constantly shows loyalty to Sherlock by not giving up to find the murderer. In the end they end up finding the murderer thanks to his perseverance. Also, Sherlock Holmes isn't dismayed or nervous of the fact that he is looking for a murderer that always seems to be a little ahead of him. Sherlock comes close to catching the murderer constantly, but slightly misses.
