1. a bishop/prince that has only a small territory is not powerful
2. such weak bishops/princes can not attack me

As you can see on the maps, Napoleon made two major changes:
1. all the purple territory (clerical property 🙏🏼 for example "Bistum ...") disappeared and were given to the Bavarian prince. Monasteries and bishops lost their possessions and power ==> this was called SECULARISATION
2. all the smaller red territories (freie Reichsstädte) disappeared and joined Bavaria ==> this was called MEDIATISATION

To make the Bavarian prince even happier (and a better friend to Napoleon) Napoleon turned Bavaria into a kingdom!👑
