This shows that the people showed greater interest in the 1959 election than the 1955 election as it was an opportunity for them to decide who was most suited to the task of governing Singapore. Therefore, 1959 election can be considered significant.
Source E shows that people saw voting as crucial as if they do not do so they thought that they might lose their citizenship.
Source C shows a scene from a PAP election rally at Hong Lim Park in the 1959 elections. There are a lot of people attending the rally, a whole crowd filling up the area, all listening to the PAP talk. This shows that the people showed great interest in the 1959 election, attending the talk to find out more about the party. It affected a great amount of people who cared about it, showing that the 1959 election was significant.
