Individuals in military uniform should stand at attention and give the military salute at the first note of the anthem and maintain that position until the last note.

These are the people who looks really serious at government events. 

2: 

Members of the Armed Forces and Veterans who are present but not in uniform may render the military salute in the manner provided for individuals in uniform.

Similar to the first protocol. 

3: 

All other persons present should face the flag and stand at attention with their right hand over the heart. No talking.

This is like in school when we face the flag to do the pledge of allegiance. 

4: 

Men not in uniform should remove their hat with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder. 

This is respectful to the country. 

5: 

Persons whose religion prohibit them from celebrating the Star Spangled Banner will stand out of respect.

Even though they don't agree with the Spar Spangled Banner, it is still respectful of them to stand.
