]]> 2017-02-16 17:19:25 UTC https://padlet.com/hlstallings/qyi7hnxankrf/wish/154386631 hlstallings https://padlet.com/hlstallings/qyi7hnxankrf/wish/154388566 General Cornwallis split his army into two groups led by General Cadwalader and General Mifflin to attack Washington's army from the north and south sides.  on top of that Washingtons troops enlistments expired at 12:00 AM that day (december 23), luckily he convinced them to stay for six more weeks.  January 2,1777, Brithish armies arrived in position and blocking the main road.  It poured rain as they began to fight so they decided to stop and finish the battle in the following morning.  Washington was not going to let his troops die in this battle, so they decided to attack in the night.  The British thought they were the Hessians and ran but when they realized it was the Americns they tried to position themselves although it was too late.  They were in a fireight.  America would not be stopped, they took over Princeton.  Sadly another, stronger British force came in and the tired, beaten down Americans gave up.
