Yes, safe fungi is present in apples, though, apples may get contaminated by harmful fungi, especially when it is unwashed, fungi such as Rhizopus stolonifer, causes rot on skin of the apple. To make sure that what we eat is safe, we should wash our fruits thoroughly to prevent harm. Since many people touch it with their hands, and it sometimes falls on the floor or gets exposed to sweat, dust, and air, microbes easily stick to it. Most of them are harmless and won’t make you sick, but there can still be some bacteria or viruses that might cause illness if they get into your body through the mouth, nose, eyes, or small cuts on the skin. That’s why it’s important to clean sports equipment and wash our hands, even if we don’t notice any dirt.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>I chose a gadget because devices are high-touch surfaces that can accumulate bacteria and other microorganisms from the environment and human contact. Studies found that many devices, especially cp, harbor diverse microbes, including potentially pathogenic bacteria, can be the cause of disease transmission. A gadget can be contaminatedy by hand contact because your hands transfers germs to your gadget and many people touch their phones frequently throughout the day, environmental exposure because gadgets are exposed to microbes from the air, public spaces and flushing toilets, and human related debris because microbes can thrive on surfaces using substances like skin cells and food debris. It is possible to make pathogen transmission because gadgets can act as a vehicle for spreading germs, including bacteria that can cause infections. We can clean our gadgets regularly to disinfect our gadgets and reduce bacterial load, and practice good hygiene and avoid touching your face after holding your gadgets.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>My pet dog is not just an animal, he is loyal companion and an important part of our family. I chose Red, our dog for this activity because dogs are among the most common pets in many households. They bring joy, comfort and protection to us humans but at the same time they can also be carriers of tiny living organisms that are invisible to the naked eye which are the microbes.</p><p>One example of a microbe that can be found in dogs is <strong>Ehrlichia canis,</strong> a harmful bacterium transmitted through the bite of a tick, locally known as <strong>garapata</strong>. These ticks attach themselves to a dog skin and feed onto their blood, unknowingly passing the bacteria into the dog’s bloodstream. Once inside, <strong>Ehrlichia canis</strong> attacks the white blood cells, weakening the dog’s immune system and leading to a condition called canine ehrlichiosis. This disease can cause symptoms such as fever, loss of appetite, fatigue, and even anemia if not treated properly.</p><p>Another is <strong>Lactobacillus</strong>, a beneficial bacterium that lives in the dog's digestive system. This microbe helps break down food and improves nutrient absorption, also protects the gut from harmful bacteria. Thanks to that microbe, dogs like Red can maintain a healthy digestive balance and stronger immunity.</p>]]></description>

A door knob might look clean when you take a look at it but did you know it also has TON of microbes. Those microbes are specifically bacteria. Now I chose a door knob representing bacteria because it shows how even though surfaces might look clean it's just the tip of the iceberg, underneath theres lots of bacteria waiting. The reason these bacteria are so common here is because door knobs are commonly held and touched by peoples hands which contain more bacteria therefore spreading it to the door knob. Now for the specific types of bacteria since its a common object for bacteria to live in it has a diverse variety of bacteria such as Bacillus spp., Escherichia coli, etc. Now most bacteria here are harmful bacteria but not fatal they are either just bad bacteria or bacteria that can cause sickness or infections. Some bacteria are good but one on door knobs are mostly harmless but dirty. We could avoid this through proper hygiene, sanitation of our environments, and by avoiding touching infected areas.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>We can find microbes even in the simplest things we use everyday, like a hairbrush. Hairbrushes are which we often use to keep our hair neat and tidy. They can be seen as homes for a lot of unseen microorganisms. When we brush our hair, natural oils, dead skin cells, and hair strands get left between the bristles. These tiny organisms can cling to leftover hair, oils, and dust forming somewhat an ecosystem overtime. While some microbes are harmless, or even part of our natural environment, others can cause us irritation if the brush is not cleaned properly and regularly. Bacteria like Staphylococcus epidermis may live harmlessly on our skin then tranfer onto the brush. However harmful microbes mighr begin to multiply and they can lead to issues like dandruff or infections. Cleaning and maintaining our personal items is very important, as microbes are everywhere even though we're not able to see them.</p>]]></description>

When I brush my hair, small amounts of oil and dead skin are being collected and transferred on to the bristles of my brush. One of the most common microbes found in our hairbrushes is <em>Staphylococcus epidermidis</em>, a beneficial bacterium that naturally lives on our skin and scalp. </p><p><br/></p><p>This microbe plays an essential role in protecting the scalp as it serves as the first line of defense on the skin and scalp. It prevents harmful bacteria from taking over. The <em>S. epidermidis</em> also helps maintain the natural oil balance of our scalps and keeps the skin’s pH slightly acidic, which prevents dandruff or, and irritation. </p><p><br/></p><p>In daily life, this microbe is more beneficial and important than we realize. Not only does it protect our scalp and skin, but it also strengthens the skin barrier and helps regulate the immune system to reduce inflammation. Even though we might think of a hairbrush as a grooming tool, it’s actually the carrier of our personal microbe—a microbe that protects us. This shows that not all bacteria are harmful. Many are allies that maintain our health quietly everyday. <em>Staphylococcus epidermidis</em> is there to prove and remind us that true cleanliness is not about being sterile, but about living with balance with the microscopic world between us.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>This is Khai, my family's pet. </p><p>‎She is a black and white persian cat wherein she lives inside our house for more than 3 years now. She is a great example for containing microbes, and for its awareness for a cat like her.</p><p>‎‎On a normal cat's skin microbiome includes bacteria like <strong><em>Staphylococcus</em></strong>, <strong><em>Streptococcus</em></strong>, and <strong><em>Micrococcus</em></strong>, which are the types of spherical bacteria or <em>cocci</em>. A common skin infection, or <em>Pyoderma</em>, is often caused by overgrowth of these bacteria at the surface of their skin. </p><p>Inside their mouth, in the oral cavity, there resides bacteria such as <strong><em>Pasteurella</em></strong> that can be transmitted to humans through bites, and <strong><em>Neisseria</em></strong> that can cause <em>gonorrhea</em> and <em>meningitis</em>.</p><p>‎‎Others are namely: <strong><em>Bartonella</em></strong>, that can be transmitted to humans through a cat scratch, causing <em>cat-scratch disease</em>, and <strong><em>Helicobacter</em></strong> that have been associated with <em>gastritis</em> in some humans who have been exposed to them, as well as others that may cause harm for their owners. Microbes on cats can also be carriers of other germs, such as <strong><em>E. Coli </em></strong><em>and </em><strong><em>Salmonella</em></strong>, which can be found in their feces and can cause food poisoning in humans if not handled properly.</p><p>‎Treat your cat like a person, care for them as you love them. Although we use it every after baths, it can still collect many types of microbes, specially if they stay damp or aren't washed often. The common microbes found on these body towels include bacteria like Staphylococcus aureus and E. coli, fungi such as Candida and Trichophyton, and sometimes viruses like the herpes virus. These organisms/microbes usually grow in moisture trapped areas/objects and dirty towels that are full of microbes can cause infections, rashes, or other illness if the towel is repetitively used without proper drying or regular cleaning/washing.</p>]]></description>

Many microbes can develop in it such as <em>Staphylococcus aureus</em> which may come from our hands, sweat, food, dust and air can stay on the keys which can spread by your hand. Their role involves decomposition, since bacteria help break down organic materials like sweat, dead skin cells, and food crumbs that collect on the keyboard. However, if harmful microbes are present, they can spread and cause sickness when we touch our face or eat without washing. This shows why its crucial to clean and disinfect our keyboards regularly, this helps prevent the spread of germs and keeps our environment clean.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Explanation: Microbes on a Laptop while playing Limbus Company</p><p><br/></p><p>My laptop can contain different kinds of microbes because it is an object that I touch frequently with My fingies one of the common bacteria found on laptops is Staphylococcus aureus this bacterium naturally lives on human skin and inside the nose, so when we type or touch our laptops it can easily transfer onto the keyboard and touchkeys. Staphylococcus aureus can survive for a long time on dry surfaces like plastic or metal especially in the dry keyboard environments of a laptop. Although it's usually harmless when it stays on our skin it can still cause infections if it enters the body through small cuts on the fingers. However, it also has benefits because it is part of our normal skin microbiota ( W fr fr) and helps protect us from more harmful bacterias. I reduce the number of microbes on My laptop by cleaning the surface regularly, washing My hands before and after using them and sometimes avoid eating over My keyboard. This helps keep Me healthy and safe and My laptop clean.🍗🍉</p>]]></description>

Microbes can be found in our hair and is usually harmless and is part of our bodies natural ecosystem. The importance of this microbes in our hair is that they protect our sensitive scalp, and helps our immune system to know which germs are harmless or harmful. Well, let me tell you - it's made through a <em>natural fermentation </em>process that involves microbes like <em>bacteria and yeast</em>. These tiny microorganisms play a huge role in converting sugars into acetic acid, which is the main component of vinegar.</p><p><br></p><p>  The production process is pretty cool. They take sugarcane juice or other natural ingredients and let them ferment. Its a common bacterium that naturally resides in the skin of various mammals, like cats.</p><p><br></p><p>S. epiderdimis doesn't usually cause harm, unless there's a disruption in the skin's barrier or the cat's immune system is compromised.</p><p><br></p><p>Additionally, they like to explore a lot. It’s home to countless tiny organisms that keep nature balanced. These include bacteria, fungi, and actinomycetes, which help decompose organic materials and recycle nutrients that plants need to grow strong and healthy. </p><p><br/></p><p>One of the most important soil microbes is Rhizobium bacteria. This 𝒶𝓂𝒶𝒶𝒶𝒶𝒶𝒶𝓏𝒾𝒾𝒾𝒾𝓃𝑔 𝓂𝒾𝒸𝓇ℴ𝒷ℯ lives in the root nodules of legume plants like beans, peas, and peanuts. Rhizobium does something called 𝗇𝗂𝗍𝗋𝗈𝗀𝖾𝗇 𝖿𝗂𝗑𝖺𝗍𝗂𝗈𝗇—it turns nitrogen gas from the air into ammonia, which plants can easily absorb as nutrients.     </p><p><br/></p><p>This process naturally enriches the soil, helps crops grow better, and reduces the need for chemical fertilizers, making farming 𝓂ℴ𝓇ℯ 𝓈𝓊𝓈𝓉𝒶𝒾𝓃𝒶𝒷𝓁ℯ 𝒶𝓃𝒹 ℯ𝒸ℴ－𝒻𝓇𝒾ℯ𝓃𝒹𝓁𝓎𝓎𝓎！      </p><p><br/></p><p>These microbes also affect us, individuals directly. Each time I touch the screen, type, or swipe, countless tiny microbes from my fingers are transferred onto its surface. Since I use my iPad often for studying, watching videos, and playing games, it becomes a place where bacteria can easily grow and multiply, especially when it’s warm or slightly dirty. These bacteria come from different sources, such as my hands, the air, and the surfaces where I place my device. Although most of these microbes are harmless, some can cause minor skin irritation or sickness if they build up too much. Because of this, it’s important to regularly clean the screen and wash our hands before and after using gadgets. Microbes on the iPad show how they are part of our daily lives — they remind us that hygiene and cleanliness are essential in today’s world filled with technology. At the same time, not all microbes are bad; some actually help us build stronger immune systems by letting our bodies learn how to fight off germs. I've realized that the warm, sweaty surface is actually a perfect little breeding ground for microbes. I'm not just looking at dust and grime, I'm looking at everyday surface dwellers like various bacteria (straight from my hands) and even a little fungus.          <description><![CDATA[<p>I chose the water bottle because it is something that many of us use every day to stay hydrated, especially when we go to school or play sports. However, it can also be a place where microbes may grow if it is not cleaned properly and regularly. When we drink directly from the mouthpiece or leave water sitting inside for too long, bacteria such as Escherichia coli (E. coli) and Staphylococcus aureus may start to develop. These microbes can come from our hands, mouth, or even the air.</p><p>E. coli is a type of bacterium that usually lives in the intestines of humans and animals, but when it is found in unclean containers or water, it can cause stomach pain and diarrhea. Staphylococcus aureus, on the other hand, can cause skin infections or sore throats if it enters the body. These harmful microbes can multiply quickly in warm, moist environments—like the inside of a closed water bottle.</p><p>To prevent this, it is very important to wash our water bottles every day using soap and clean water, and to let them dry completely before using them again. By keeping our bottles clean, we can avoid the spread of bacteria and protect ourselves from possible illnesses. 💧</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>For my picture, I chose Yakult! </p><p><br/></p><p>Ever since I was a child, Yakult was always one of my favorite drinks, it was delicious and healthy. I consider it a good example of microbes, as each standard 65ml bottle contains at least 8 billions of live good microbes, otherwise known as the lacticaseibacillus paracasei strain Shirota (LcS) bacteria. </p><p><br/></p><p>This type of bacteria is resistant to gastric acid, which allows it to reach the intestines alive. It helps with maintaining the balance of good bacteria in your gut, supporting and improving gut and digestive health, boosting the immune system, and enhances nutrient absorption! Plus, it has good flavor! Remember to not drink too many, though, as too much of anything is bad for you:) </p><p><br/></p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Rice has countless microbes, whether bacteria, viruses, archaea, and even fungi, with the most notable being a bacteria called 𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘂𝘀 𝗖𝗲𝗿𝗲𝘂𝘀. </p><p>The same bacteria is known to cause 𝙛𝙤𝙤𝙙 𝙥𝙤𝙞𝙨𝙤𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜, and other diarrhoeal complications. These anaerobic bacterium are gram-positive and rod shaped. A single kilogram of rice can house thousands up to millions of colonies. </p><p>𝙌&amp;𝘼</p><p>•But, if rice has so many of these... Why haven't I gotten food poisoning from eating rice? </p><p>-Well, cooking the rice kills these microbes, 𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘂𝘀 𝗖𝗲𝗿𝗲𝘂𝘀 aren't exactly heat resistant. </p><p>•Why don't we just get rid of these microbes if they're this harmful? </p><p>-These bacteria actually promote the growth of crops, break down organic waste, and can theoretically be used as a probiotic. </p><p>•apologies for late submission. </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>I chose an umbrella as my object because it plays a role in preventing the growth and spread of harmful microbes. When we use an umbrella, we protect ourselves from getting wet in the rain, which helps prevent illnesses caused by bacteria and viruses that thrive in damp conditions. However, umbrellas can also become a breeding ground for microbes such as Aspergillus (a type of mold) and Penicillium if they are stored while still wet. These fungi grow on moist surfaces and can produce spores that may cause allergies or respiratory problems. To prevent this, it is important to let the umbrella dry completely before folding it and storing it indoors. Keeping the umbrella clean and dry helps stop the growth of unwanted microbes, ensuring it remains safe and useful for daily protection.</p>]]></description>

These microbes can stay on stuffed toys because they easily absorb sweat, oil, and dust. When we touch or hug the toy often, the bacteria can transfer to our skin and possibly cause mild infections or pimples if hygiene is poor.          <description><![CDATA[<p><strong>Bacteria can build up in all sorts of creases or corners</strong>. And it can especially build up in fur! Artificial or not, bacteria can be found anywhere and everywhere, <strong>bacteria are ubiquitous! ☺</strong></p><p><br/></p><p>I like fluffy, giant teddy bears specifically. So therefore I chose this big fluffy boi to take a selfie with! But, the main question is.. how can they build up bacteria? <strong>Teddy bears or anything manufactured using fabrics can be made up of synthetic fibers, or even absorbent type of fabrics! Making them prone in trapping moisture, bacteria, and all sorts of microbes!</strong> This teddy bear I'm holding specifically is a decoration, or a display we installed for guest sightseeing or holding for picture taking, and so on. That means, many different people with many different microbes, bacteria in their bodies or hands has held this bear, even me! Thats why its important to be sanitary, and hygienic, to prevent our bacteria, microbes, or even viruses from passing to other people through direct/indirect touch. Luckily, I was the first to make contact with this teddy bear, and I sanitised it right after!</p><p><br/></p><p><strong><em>Staphylococcus aureus is a bacteria that can be commonly found in fabrics.</em></strong><em> </em>This bacterium can survive on fabric surfaces for days to weeks! It can can cauyse skin infections 😥 </p><p><br/></p><p>More on, we can prevent the chain reaction of passing these bacterias from one to another by simply washing our hands, using ethyl alcohol everytime we make contact with an unsanitised surface, and more. It is very vital and important to remind people the importance of hygiene and sanitation, as you could prevent them from getting affected by viruses, or bacteria. Not just them, but yourself and everybody who reaches the message you/they spread aswell!</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>The largest group of microbes on the surface of the human body are bacteria, you may think all of these are just germs and infectious but no, some of these bacteria actually protect us from certain sicknesses. One group of bacteria I found interesting were the Resident Flora, meaning permanent residents, these bacteria colonize the skin surface ok the long-term without actually causing harm. You might be familiar with one of the members of that bacteria group, cutibacterium acnes which live deep in hair follicles and sebaceous glands and help maintain skin pH levels but can cause acne in some conditions. In conclusion, while there may be trillions of bacteria on our body, some of them are beneficial and not harmful.</p>]]></description>
