The summer camp leader/teacher was adamant that the pool was ideal for short field trips with the children because of its proximity to the school and engaging surrounding environment. The buildings are relatively newer and many of them have well maintained gardens that could be observed and used as a way to facilitate lessons, discussions and activities surrounding indoor and outdoor gardening. Furthermore, under the Skytrain tracks there are plots of land along lined pathways that we believe have the potential to house urban garden spaces, which could additional facilitate outdoor and experiential education. 

Central Park in Burnaby is also located within a 20 minute walk of the school, and is more forested than the closer parks to the school. The drawback to using this park is having to walk a greater distance to the facility which requires crossing two very busy intersections - Kingsway and Boundary Road. From a safety standpoint the trip is doable, but there is a higher potential for risk because of the types of crossings that are required. The Grade 4-7 School, Graham David School, is within a 10-minute walk from Collingwood.
