Values & Explanation (Why do you value these things?)

1. Family - It shows character when someone is family oriented. You should value family as they are always there for you, support you, care for you, and shape you into who you are instilling there value into you. So you owe them some respect and thanks.
2. Loyalty - It builds trust and stronger relationships.
3.Honesty - I don't like lying in other or myself. I prefer people being upfront with me and telling me their honesty opinion. Someone who is honest translates to me as a person who is reliable and trustworthy. Dishonesty also breaks relationships romantically or familiarly.
4.Authenticity - It's something I try to be every day. People should like you for who you are. So we should stay true to ourselves and not change because of others. Also nobody wants to deal with fake people and the drama that comes along.
5. Kindness- Kindness is important to have in life as you should treat other how you want to be treated. Someone who isn't kind is offputting and I lose some respect as I find it disrespectful in a way.
6.Success - I value success as it'a a way for me to see how I've improved and it makes me proud of myself.
7.
8.
9.
10.

1. Logical - Typically I think logical instead of with my heart. It's a strength because you can think critically about a decision instead of making a irrational decision. When you make act based off your heart you lose basic common sense and reasoning goes out the window.
2. Honest -
3. Kindness
4.
5.

1. Graduate college - It would be a great achievement because I know college is going to be difficult. I also want to be the first person on my dad's side of the family to graduate college.
2.Go on a trip with my entire family - As soon as my tia gets her papers I want all of us to go on a trip. I've never gone on a vacation with her before and it's something i want to do with her while I still can.
3. Buy a car or house - I want to be able to say I own something and payed for it all by myself. I am very fortunate that I'm getting my brother's old car and have college somewhat paid for. I want to be able to have something of my own. In a way have proof that I got something without the help of others.
4.
5.

1. My dad is the most important person in my life. He is my favorite person in the world and my life would change the most with him gone. If my dad died I would be a orphan since my mom's already been dead for 10 years. Just the thought makes me want to cry.
2. My sister is the second important person in my life. She takes care of me and has acted as a second parent for the past 3 years. We get along pretty well despite having a 17 year age gap. Although we argue sometimes I wouldn't want anything bad to happen to her.
3. The third most important person in my life is my brother. I used to look up to him when I was little following him around so I'm closer to my brother than my sister. Another reason I'm closer is probably due to us being closer in age I could joke around more. Even though my siblings and I have a huge gap 12 years is better than the 17 year age gap with my sister. Even though both my brother and sister are only half siblings I care for them as if we are fully related.
4.
5.

5 Areas of growth

1. I would like to improve my time management skills. I procrastinate and lose track of time easily. I need to be punctual for future jobs and college because they're probably not going to be as lenient as high school. An example of my terrible time management skills is the time I get to school. I'm late to school almost everyday and always do things last minute thinking I have more time than I actually do.
2. Being confident. I'm not okay with being wrong and I don't take criticism well. This is probably due to my insecurities and lack of confidence in myself that I can't stand someone not agreeing with me or someone hating on things I enjoy.
3. Ability to ask for help. Like I stated earlier I don't like being wrong and have a hard time admitting it. In a way I feel embarrassed to ask for help because I don't want people think I'm incompetent. Asking for help will develop my growth mindset. As my dad says if you don't ask questions you'll never learn.
4. Setting goals. It will help me be more productive and help me keep track and complete my tasks on time efficiently. I lose track of what I need to do tend to over complicate things. Which ends up with me doing nothing about the problem and the cycle continues with me overthinking again and still not doing anything.
5. Patience. Being patient would help me not lose my cool and stay on task under pressure. It will also help my people and empathy skills. Having better patience would decrease my chances of becoming irritated, defensive and end up saying hurtful things.

Reflection on Traditional beliefs Assumptions on Gender: How did you feel? What ideas or thoughts came up for you as you thought about your beliefs and assumptions on masculinity and femininity today?

It made me think about how unfair it is that both men and women have to live up to a certain standard to be seen as acceptable. If people don't follow these traditional beliefs they are thought of as strange. I believe that traditions should evolve as society changes. We should have the ability to doubt and question whether we are benefiting from following such tradition. Just because people having been doing things a certain way for many years doesn't mean it's good and ethical. A bad tradition for example is human scarification. It used to be commonly practiced and was thought of as normal and a way to connect with god but if you did that in our current society you would be considered a monster.

What lessons can you take away from the film on the mistakes and growth of the men in the film? Explain. What did you learn? What surprised you?Is it possible for other men to become feminists?

A lesson I could take from the mistakes and growth of the men in the film is to not bottle up your emotions. By not letting themselves express their emotions or having a positive outlet the men resorted to violence and lashed out due to not knowing how to deal with their feelings and having emotional maturity. What surprised me was that men were feminists. Male feminists aren't very common as the definition "feminist" has been twisted into something it isn't causing people to believe the movement is about "men against women" or being "anti-men" . Yes, I believe it's possible for men to be feminists. Being a feminist doesn't mean you only care about the rights of women but is someone who advocates for the equality and rights of both men and women.

How do you see “toxic masculinity” or “patriarchy” manifesting in your personal life: 1 with your family, 2 with your siblings, 3 with your extended family?

1. An example of toxic masculinity and patriarchy in my family can be seen in my dad. He definitely is old school which is evident because I've never seen him cry and he doesn't understand know how to deal with his and others negative emotions.
2. My tia. She believes in the traditional roles of men and women and that men and/or boys can't be feminine. My cousin came over to my house one day and wanted to play with my toys. Since I'm a girl I had dolls and cute figurines in the shape of food and he loved them and asked to play with them every time he came over. She yelled at got mad at him for playing with toys because they were "girl toys" probably thinking it will make him gay. He didn't understand and just wanted to play with me.

I don' practice toxic masculinity or patriarchy in my life. Unlike my siblings traditional beliefs I don't believe that women are solely meant to be centered around men and their validation, stay home to take care of their kids, cook and clean. I personally want more to life than that and don't see that for myself in the future as I feel a need for a sense of accomplishment and want to contribute as well. Since I don't fall in line with those beliefs I don't follow them in my life.
