This Book Box is created for Mason. Mason is a 10 year old 4th grade student that is very active and loves sports. He has just advanced to the 5th grade reading level, however reading often times doesn't keep his attention. These are the books I selected for his book box to spark more interest.

I picked Growing up Pedro by Matt Tavares for Mason because of his related experiences with baseball. Mason's favorite sport is baseball so the character dreaming about his future is reflected to Mason like a mirror. This book has high ratings and is dedicated to the 3rd-5th grade reading levels which should be a fairly easier and fun read for him.

I picked Ghost by Jason Reynolds because it is an award winning finalist book. So not only does this book get very high attention, this book also includes diversity within a multi cultural track team. This book will not only open Mason's eyes to a new sport, it will also give offer him more diversity when reading. This book is a little longer then what he is used to so it will take him a while to finish it, however the reading level is 4th- 6th grade so it should be a fairly easy read for him.

I chose The Academy by T.Z. Layton because this book offers a big perspective on goals and dreams within a young active kids mind like Mason. I think the idea of chasing dreams in this book will be good for Mason growing confidence and it will also grow his attention. The book was wrote for 10-11 year olds so it would be a good read for him.

I chose the Boy at the Back of the Class by Anjali Q. Rauf because it brings an idea of teamwork and humbleness to the table. Teamwork is important in sports so this could open Mason's eyes like a window to a bigger meaning behind sports. The book is fairly longer but it would be a well- compared to his reading level with it being aimed at ages from 9-11 years.

I picked 42 is not Just a Number by Doreen Rappaport because it is based once again on Mason's favorite sport, but it will also teach his about one of the most impactful MLB in all of history. I think this story will spark his interest. The book is rather short however the reading could challenge him as it is for the 6-7th grade reading level, so if he is up for a challenge this would be a good read for him.

I chose Strange Worlds Travel Agency by L.D. Lapinski because is a very highly rated book about adventure. Since Mason is the active kid he is, I feel like a little bit of fiction could grab his attention easily. This book explores different ideas and places within a kids mind the same age as Mason. The book will be longer for him, however the reading level ranged from 2nd-5th grade which will make it a quicker and easier read for him.
