There are many characteristics of innate behavior. These include instincts and inclinations that you feel. It isn't necessarily a choice you make, but it is an unsaid thing that your body comes to a conclusion on by itself.

The longer a species survives, the more it's innate behaviors must adapt to survive. If a specie's innate behaviors remain the same, they will eventually die off at some point. Things around them are always changing, so they must adapt to those changes. For example, territoriality is a type of innate behavior. If a species defends it's land from predators, but the predators begin to eat a rising percentage of the defenders, they must either figure out another way to defend their land, or that species will eventually die off.

There are many benefits to social behavior, and more specifically innate behavior. These are attributes that keep us and other species alive daily. For example, if we pick up a hot pan, our innate behaviors will force us to let go, and relieve us from the heat. Even learned traits such as swimming keep us from drowning when we fall into water.
