Saul was brought up as a Jew who went from persecuting Christians, to later becoming one himself. He would stone the Christians as he thought they were a threat and blasphemous. He then saw a blinding light in his path and it was Jesus asking why he was persecuting him. Saul was then baptised by Ananias and then he became a significant member of the Christians. This was so significant as he made a huge change from once being a Jew then the conversion to being a Christian due to Jesus’ words.

St Paul wrote these letters because he had travelled all over the eastern Mediterranean Sea while preaching about the Christian faith. These letters remind and teach people that Jesus died for us. He wanted all people such as the Jews and Gentiles, to be just with God through the Christian faith. Paul reveals in the bible ‘As you read this powerful letter, let go of your fears. Even though you’re not perfect, God will never leave you’ (Romans pg. 1338). This bible passage explains, by reading these letters from Paul God will always be with you. The main message: that jesus is the messiah as he died for our sins which then enable us to receive eternal life

its is about building a community within their faith

In 54-55 AD Paul found that a cultural challenge for him was trying to get the Jews to become Christians. In order for this to happen, they had to be circumcised according to the Jewish law. They believed you still had to be circumcised to belong to the community. Paul tried to bring Christianity in and Jews did not like this because they had to be circumcised. Paul urged the people ‘Bear one another’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfil the law of Christ.’ (Gal 6:2).

The Mediterranean world in 33CE was very different. Rome controlled much of this area of the world for approximately 507 years because of the Roman Empire. Their focal point was on the military who invaded majority of the Mediterranean. In those times the key languages of the time were Latin, Greek, Hebrew and Aramaic. Some of the different religious groups living in the regions were Jews, Christians and Polytheists. There was not particularly great tolerance between these groups and so there was conflict about their own beliefs. People and goods were transported by foot, by animals or even by wheels. Many of Pauls followers came from the region of Galilee.
