Here is a pie chart showing how I would like to earn a living from music. ideally I would make as much of my income as possible from live performance and touring with the next biggest percentage coming from recording (my own music preferably but also session work) with teaching and perhaps writing for others helping to supplement my income. How viable this is I do not know but it is what I would like to do.

Jason Ricci is a New Orleans Based Harmonica Player who as well as being a touring musician and doing session work. gives skype lessons, releases educational and entertaining content on YouTube and even teaches skateboarding in his local area.

Amanda Palmer is interesting because, as well as starting out busking (as i did), she was one of the first artists to take advantage of crowdfunding, this has allowed her, since leaving her record label, to completely cut out the middleman and forge a direct relationship with her fans that many artists lack, as well as giving her more or less complete creative freedom.

  My tutor jack recorded me at HQ in the recording suite. overall while I wasn't entirely happy with my performance the actual recording quality was good. We recorded with a Behringer C2 microphone, guitar and vocals were recorded simultaneously. Afterwards, jack EQ'd the vocals and added a De esser to help remove some of the sibilance (partly caused by my braces) as well as a touch of reverb to add a sense of space the whole thing. 

     one takeaway for next time is to not mic me up so close, as it tended to catch all the subtle noises of clothing and chairs as well as some less than pleasant mouth noises.

my personal progress 
this term my personal progress has not been very good. due to sever extenuating circumstances i have largely failed to impliment a structured practice routine and in all honesty have been playing less than i have for a very long time. i am slowly but surely feeling able to build myself back up however and i hope to get back on top of things in the near future.  i
