I cut the different types of textures I was able to get my hands on and incorporated into the circle to give a variety in a whole.
#5 Line Variety displaying different types of line and shapes within the circle.

I played with what I had, creativity has never been my strength.

#1. I chose to add simple lines around this abstract star in order to maintain the emphasis of the star.
#2. When I was brainstorm something to draw for scale I thought about billboards. There’s always small billboards to promote companies or movies, but bigger billboards display more wealth (due to how expensive renting billboards are) and importance.
#3. The swirls are seen a crossed the picture. It reminds me of the ufos that are seen in Alien documentaries and films. This led me to add rows of bushes to create a field of vegetation.
#4. For space and emphasis, I was inspired by the Bean in Chicago. The sculpture displayed a large amount of space, but placing it in the middle of the picture also displayed emphasis.
#5. When I think about shapes I associate it with memories from kindergarten. I also remember not drawing faces in correct proportions as a child, so I drew a face with big eyes and weirdly shaped features.

#1 For this one I as went with the idea of using lines and giving them different unique styles which would still go to show the different varieties that could be used.
#2 The idea I was going for with this piece was to use different groups of shapes of different sizes with some being in unison of each other in order to show the unity of the shapes characteristics.
#3 I had came up with the idea of going for the moon and the earth to show the vast space in between both objects and using a pencil to shade in the dark areas to bring the vacuum of space to life,While also using a lighter shade the closer I got the the moon for the reflective light it gave off.
#4 For this, I went with a more minimalistic style of a marker and using different horizontal and vertical lines to show that even though they are different they can still be just alike at the same time in unity.
5# Similar technique as with #3 I had went with the idea of drawing mountains for this piece with a helicopter flying overhead to show the share scale of of both object and I used a pencil for my shadings in order to show value for the mountain.

This one looks like a colorful beach volleyball.
Circle #2: Element - Color, Principle - Space. I presented here two colors and a space between the two colors. This one looks like a beluga boat to me.
Circle #3: Element - Value, Principle -Variety. Here I presented the scale of value from dark to light in a variety of patterns. This one looks like a cheese cake tray with different flavored cheese cakes in it.
Circle #4: Element - Shape, Principle - Variety. I presented a variety of different types of shapes. This one looks like a kids shape sorter toy.
Circle #5: Element - Line, Principle - Space. This one I chose to draw a single line in the middle of the space of the circle. It actually looks like the top of a coin jar to me.
Extra/Circle #6: Element - Texture, Principle - Unity. This one represents the unity of the plant leaves and it is from a real plant stuck in the circle to provide texture. It looks like a salad on a budget to me HAHA!

Shape and Rhythm: shows a visual rhyme that means when a person takes a look at everything because maybe it is the same or different that is a rhyme.
5. Shape and Variety: draw many random shapes although there can be infinite shapes to represent the variety of shapes that can exist in art.
6. Space: I used an exterior space because it is easy for most to identify exterior space as space, but the objective is to represent the spaces of art that can be anywhere in the world.

#1 - Line and Unity: I used lines in order to create a pattern that repeats through the entire circle. This ends up looking like a brick wall, which created the sense of unity throughout the entire pic.
#2 - Texture and Variety: I used different sections of the circle to display different textures. Long pencil strokes that simulate fur or hair follicles. Numerous dots to simulate a porous object. And closely-knit lines to simulate a repeating rigid series of bumps.
#3 - Color and Emphasis: I used a giant splotch of red in the middle of blue in order to emphasis the subject. I felt what the subject is up to viewer interpretation.
#4 - Shape and Proportion: I used a series of repeating triangles that increasingly get bigger to create a sense of hierarchy. Using proportion, the biggest triangle is shown to be above all.
#5 - Shape and Balance: I used two squares offset from each other to create a sense of asymmetrical balance.

I apologize if the sharpie made the circle and line work look awful. I didn't want to get ink on the ruler, but I did use a pencil and a ruler to get everything straight as a draft.

Even on a larger scale, you can play with the amount of color.
2. Shape/Variety: I thought of paint brushes because they are all shaped and cut very differently to achieve different textures, lines, variety on art work.
3. Pattern(Value)/Variety: Value can be played with various gradients of colors. In my case, I used the grey scale while using it in a pattern.
4. Color/Space: Color and space on a white background might be my favorite art. It is very comforting. I think because of its use on negative space.
5. Line/Unity: This combination uses shapes or lines that have been arranged in patterns. Looks easy, but I think it needs more planning when used in creating larger scaled art.

1. Colour/Variety: For this one I used a harsh red, pink, blue, and green to show a variety of colours. I like the fun jump of colours in this one, its brightness and dramatic shift in tone almost hurts your eyes to look at.
2. Colour/Emphasis: To make this one I used some desaturated blue circles with one extremely bright red one to put emphasis on it. I like using emphasis on different colours to draw your eye to it and make it stand out more. It adds a whole new life to your drawing when you have a dull background/surroundings yet there is one object that stands out. Everything is concentrated on that one spot that it makes you wonder why its different.
3. Line/Variety: For this one I put a bunch of different lines ranging from parallel, vertical, horizontal, thick, thin, random, zig zag, loopy, and wavy. Lines are an essential part of drawing, and certain compositions of it can create the illusion of anything from depth to texture. I like drawing it in its simplest forms considering how vital it is.
4. Shape/Variety: This one has a bunch of random but simple shapes in order to make them distinguishable. This one, in a good way, makes me feel a bit childish, almost like I have one of those baby toys that you have to teach them how to line up the shapes to fit them into the slots. From a young age all kinds of shapes are a huge part of our lives.
5. Colour/Unity: I compiled a collage of random images with the main tone being a pastel pink hue with the exception of some black, white, and grey values. Pastel pink is my favorite colour, so I feel very calm and relaxed looking at it. Other colours like red or yellow can represent very intense emotions but pastel pink has always felt peaceful no matter where I see it.
6. Value/Space: To create this one I made an empty dark room with a window casting dramatic shadows and highlights in it. I especially liked the cat I put in it because the combination of highlights to indicate light behind it and dark tones on the front to add more depth makes the space feel less empty. This one is my favorite out of the 6 circles. The way only value was used to make the picture seem like it has space to it kind of gives it an eerie feeling. If I were to walk into a room and see something like this I would immediately feel unsafe and probably leave.

#1 Element: Line // Principle: Movement
The thing I enjoyed about this first combo were the angles I had chosen for the direction; after completing the work, the lines seemed really appealing to me, particularly for that reason. Even the color scheme was really nice after looking at it for a while. This piece made me feel lively. Due to the colors making the lines stand out more, this segment seemed like it had good movement to me.
#2 Element: Texture // Principle: Variety
What captured my eye for this segment was how eye popping some of the sections came out to be. I thought of the third section as snake skin. To be honest, all of the sections in this segment make me think of animal skins/feathers.
#3 Element: Form / Principle: Balance
Again, this segment really popped out for me. The figure I had created just seems like eye candy, to me; this could have been helped with the color scheme! After looking at this section, I was really amazed. I know if I put a little bit of more effort, the piece would have looked a lot more symmetrical.
#4 Element: Color / Principle: Rhythm
What I really liked about this segment was how it appeared. It seemed that the honey comb figures were actually moving in a certain direction. This segment gave me a sense of liveliness. The way the colors work and move are really astounding.
#5 Element: Shape / Principle: Emphasis
The color choice really made this piece work. It makes the shapes stand out, all with two complimentary colors. The colors of this segment gave me a sense of an energetic feeling.
