Where am I from?

Now this is a question that is not as easy to answer as it may seem. I was born in Chicago Heights, Illinois and lived there as a baby with my family. By the time I was 2, my parents moved my four siblings and I to Springdale, Arkansas. I have lived here in North West Arkansas ever since, and I love it! Originally my parents are from Zacatecas, Mexico. A lot of my family still lives there, and I've spent my whole life visiting at least 2 times a year. All of my summers as a child were spent there, so it feels like a second home to me. I even took a gap year after high school and moved there for the year to spend time with family. So to answer the question in shorter terms, I was born in Chicago, live in Arkansas, and originally am from Mexico.

Who made me who I am

My family has been a vital role in shaping me into the person I am today. My parents always set good example for us, and worked so hard to give us everything we have. They instilled good morals and a good work ethic into us to ensure out success in life. Growing up I was the youngest of 5 by 8 years. Since all of my siblings were much older than I was, they taught me how to navigate life in the US, since my parents didn't grow up here. Anytime I had to face something new, I could always count on one of my siblings for advice. It is because of these people that I am where I am today.

I am a full time student at the University of Arkansas studying Elementary Education. The reason I chose Elementary education is because of the students pictured above. Last summer after coming back from my trip to Mexico, I got a Job working for an After school program. At this point in my life I didn't really have an plans of going to school. After spending a few months working there I began to realize that I loved the positivity and vibrance that children have. With the advise of family and friends I came to the conclusion that I wanted to teach! I've been working there ever since and I love my Job! I'm so excited to continue pursuing my career through the University of Arkansas. Woo Pig!!
