Benefit of Decentralised Organisational Culture:

Decentralised organisational culture provides more benefits to the employees and makes their presence felt in the organisation. It makes the employees goal more aligned with the organisational goal. Let’s look at some of the benefits,

Decision Making: Decentralised organisation structure have several individual contributors to make business decisions, Decentralised organisation depends on team environment to make important decisions.

Open to new ideas: Employees can bring in new ideas of change which can be discussed and implemented for organisational development.

Flexibility: Decentralisation brings in more flexibility to the employees and gives more power to the employees to make their point/ideas heard to the management.

Why Employees resist to organisational change:

Change is everywhere you turn in organisations these days. Understanding why employees resist change will help organisations and change makers to effectively manage change successfully.

“About twenty percent of the people are against any change.” – Robert F. Kennedy

Loss of Job: This one of the major reason for the resistance in change. Due to the factors such as technical advancement, cost reduction, faster turnaround times all the employees will resist the changes that result in their roles being eliminated or reduced.

Loss of Support System: Employees already in their comfort zones, working with the managers they get along with, and who are operating within predictable routines know their support system will back them up during challenging times. Changing the organisational structures may shake their confidence in their support system.

Office Politics: Every organisation has its own share of in-house politics. So, some employees resist change as a political strategy to “show or prove” that the change decision is wrong.

Loss of Control: Being asked to change the way they operate may make employees feel powerless and confused. People are more likely to understand and implement changes when they feel they have some form of control.

How to implement necessary changes within the organisation:

The organisation must make an effort to clearly define the changes and how it will benefit the employees. Some methods they could follow,

Clearly define the change and align it to business goals:
Clarity in the change must be provided by the organisation and they must also make the employee know how the change is beneficial for organisation as well as the employees.

Develop a communication strategy: Provide a clear communication

Provide effective training: Clear effective training reduced the doubts of the employees

§ Explain to the employees, with reference to organizational and leadership behavior, the benefits of a more decentralized organizational culture.

The benefits of a more decentralized organizational culture are the empowerment of the employees because they will have more autonomy therefore the burdens are lifted for the top management. It also prepare for emergency in case if an employee is ill because are prepared to work autonomously. The main benefit is the effectiveness of the decision making, indeed the manager doesn’t nee to wait to make a decision.

§ Why do you think some employees are resistant to organizational change?

Employees won’t be in their comfort zone. They need to change their habits, they are insecure and they are scared of the unknown that’s why some employees are resistant.

§ How would you set about implementing the necessary changes within the organization?

A good communication by a positive and motivational speech is the key to reassure the employees because they will feel less scared and more secure.

1)The core idea of decentralised organisation is sharing responsibilities. If a good leader explain well this idea to the employers and convinces them to be a part of it, it will came back as a high performance for sure.
2) If people are part of the running system they can hesitate the change. Because they can think if it will change it can be worst or my role can be change and they don't want to struggle with the adaptation.
3) Communication is the key. If you can reach their minds directly and explain clearly the new change's benefits it will be more easy, so that i would start with the clear understanding briefings and orientations.

Benefits of a decentralised organizational culture.

1. The employees have a voice; they have a say in how the decisions of the organisations are made.
2. Decentralization encourages self development and innovation because it allows for responsibilities to be assigned to different employees.
3. This helps improve the quality of decisions being made as different suggestions covering various perspectives are analysed before a final decision is made.

Why employees are resistant to organisational changes.

1. Human beings generally like stability, therefore there is the instictiveness to always choose certainty over uncertainty. Many times, change is full of uncertainty.
2. Some people resist change due to the extra responsibility it might come with.
3. Job insecurity is a major reason why people resist change partitcularly in the technology sector.

Implementing the necessary changes within the organisation.

1. Following Lewin's model, it's important to prepare everyone and everything for the change. The easiest way to do this is to announce as early as possible and be sure to highlight the benefits that this changes will bring for them. It might also help to emphatise with them and personalise the benefit so that they understand that you have their best interest at heart. (UNFREEZING)
2. Gradually implement the change in phases by delegating tasks and assisting them in achieving their given tasks. Help them familiarize themselves with the change. (CHANGING)
3. Gather feedback, see how the employees are doing and what areas theyre struggling with, reinforce the changes made. (REFREEZING)

1. In a decentralized organization, you don't have to waste time on each and procedure. Each and every employee will have their own stand and not be under anyone else's standards or methods.
2. People resist change because they are afraid of getting used to, to the new schedule/routine. They don't feel like stepping out of the comfort zone.
3. Employees should be made aware of the pros and cons of the new change. Only then the employees will be comfortable to adapt to the new change.
