It is important to recognize that each student will approach their academic endeavors in a manner that aligns with their cultural beliefs. Because student success depends on what they deem important information that will be useful to their lived experiences, teachers should seek to understand the various cultures that are brought to their classrooms and shape their curriculum in a manner which can be received well by each student and the cultures that exist within the classroom. This can be accomplished through Critical Literacy (enables students to critique agendas and information of popular culture from a social justice standpoint) and facilitating a Culturally Conscious classroom.
