Review:    This book is about a Duck who decides to run for President. He gets tired of working for Farmer Brown on the farm and decides to go into office. He holds an election and wins, becoming head of the farm. He then realizes that his new job is hard work and reconsiders his position.  This book is good for introducing children to various topics, especially politics and elections. Children are able to identify the key details in the story to conclude the outcome of the election/story. Mathematics can be integrated to count the number of votes and determine the winner of the election. The possibilities for integrated lessons are endless with this particular book.

Review:    This book is about a hungry, old wolf who gets an unexpected visit from a little lamb. He starts planning a delicious stew which would include the lamb as the meat for the stew. The little lamb is unaware of the wolf’s intentions of eating her. She doesn’t want to be the wolf’s dinner; she wants to be his friend. After spending time together, the lamb wins over the wolf’s heart and they become friends. This is a good book to introduce fables and folktales. It could be used to compare and contrast with similar stories such as The Three Little Pigs. Students could talk briefly talk about selected animals and the foods that they eat (food chain). Students can also talk about safety precautions and discuss different options that the lamb could’ve done instead of going to a stranger’s house.

On the first day of school, Camilla wakes up to find herself completely covered in rainbow stripes!  The doctor decides that she is well enough to attend school. At school, the other children tease her and call out colors and patterns which cause the colors on her skin to transform accordingly. The teachers fears that Camilla is contagious and send her home. While at home, Camilla tries many things to cure herself. Finally, an old lady persuades her to eat some lima beans. After a lot of convincing, Camilla finally eats the lima beans. She is cured and successfully transformed back into a normal being. With everything back to normal, Camilla continues to eat her lima beans, despite her friends opinions. She enjoys being different.

This book is excellent for many teaching points. It allows the students to learn about emotions and feelings as each character “crayon” explain how they feel. This book allow children to explore their imaginations and create their own humorous conversations amongst the crayons.

Luckily Dad had the perfect solution to get rid of enemies, Enemy Pie.  Part of the secret recipe is spending an entire day with the enemy, which didn’t sound pleasing at all; however, it was necessary to perfecting the enemy pie.

Later that day, Mr. Slinger gives Lilly a note and snacks, which makes Lilly realize that she acted rashly. Review:   This story gives a child's perspective of the events in the American Civil Rights Movement. Four courage black teens sit down at a lunch counter in the segregated South of 1960. Connie, one of the main characters, is used to the signs and customs that have let her drink only from certain water fountains and only being allowed in certain stores. Despite all of the circumstances, she would still love to sit at the lunch counter, just like she's seen other girls do. This story shows the divide amongst races during the Civil Rights Movement and celebrates our country's everyday heroes.

With his best friend Leonardo the Silent awarding him points, Rafe tries to break every rule in his school's oppressive Code of Conduct. Chewing gum in class equals 5,000 points. Running in the hallway equals 10,000 points. Pulling the fire alarm equals 50,000 points. But not everyone thinks Rafe's plan is a good idea, especially not the teachers, parents and bullies who keep getting in his way. Rafe  must decide that winning is the only thing that matters.

Claudia talks about it with her fellow baby-sitters, and they inspect Shawna's locker. Later, Claudia finds Shawna, Susan Taylor, and another friend of theirs in the girls' bathroom. Finally, Claudia proves, with the help of the Baby-sitters, her sister Janine, and Mr. Zorzi, that it was SHAWNA who cheated.
