Jay Gatsby is a self-made millionaire who tries to use his wealth to attract Daisy who was already married at the time to Tom Buchanan. The book indicates that Daisy chose Tom over Gatsby because Gatsby was poor during their teenage romance. Regardless, Gatsby appears to have built himself up to win Daisy back. As a result, Gatsby seems to have a false sense of reality and an obsession with Daisy. He has the inaccurate perception that wealth will solve his problems. Even though Gatsby does get closer to Daisy, Daisy ultimately chooses her husband over him. Therefore, the character Jay Gatsby appears to be very naive. At the end of this book, Gatsby dies, likely due to his unrequited love towards Daisy Buchanan.

     The narrator of the book The Great Gatsby is the character known as Nick Carraway. He is an observant character that has some participation in the conflicts of the story. Nick shares his thoughts on his experiences with the other characters and is often pushed around by the other characters. For example, he often does what he is asked, such as inviting his cousin Daisy to his house so Gatsby can reunite with her. In a sense, he can be described as a wingman to Gatsby. Moreover, his relationship with Jordan Baker is described, but does not lead to anything serious. Their friendship ends by the conclusion of this piece of literature. Truly, Nick Carraway is a medium used to describe the tragedy of his acquaintance, Jay Gatsby.

     The book titled The Great Gatsby may indicate that wealth does not equal success as Gatsby’s wealth did not allow him to fulfill his desire of marrying Daisy. Moreover, this story may suggest that an obsession over love is dangerous as romantic relationships often have other weighted factors other than love. This can include parental approval, societal approval and security. Therefore, this book ultimately would regard the misfortune of Jay Gatsby told by his neighbor. 

The Man by Taylor Swift: This song talks about the double standards that women face compared to men. In the book it is the double standard of men being able to practice medicine while Felicity is denied every opportunity and is instead offered a secretary position.

Oh No by MARINA: In the book Felicity goes back and forth between being very sure of herself and being convinced she’s going to get the outcome she wants and questioning if she’s following nothing. While most of the time she’s confident in what she’s doing like the songs there are points in the book where she is questioning whether or not she’s going to fail.

Crush Culture by Conan Gray: Throughout the book Felicity sees others such as her older brother and her childhood friend start creating relationships however she doesn’t feel the same way. When she thinks about it closer to the end of the book she decides that kissing isn’t her thing and she’d be okay in a house by herself near her brother.

Matilda by Harry Styles: While she eventually grows closer to her older brother Monty Felicity was never close to the rest of her family. Growing up with money led to a lot of her family not interacting with each other and overall being very distant. Though by the end of the book she has her own support group of friends. 

The Family Jewels by MARINA: As stated before Felicity was never close to her parents or younger brother. She was always pushed to give up reading and her love for medicine and instead focus on something society deems feminine. 

Seashore by The Regettes: When trying to get positions in the medical field Felicity is constantly being shut down and talked down upon by men who hold those positions. So she decided by the end of the book that she’s going to take matters into her own hands and make a name for herself another way.
