Japan and China are remarkably great at marketing and showcasing their cultural art forms. When you see almost anything related to Asian culture on social media, it's mostly those of East Asian nations. But why not Vietnam?

Vietnam is a rapidly growing country and one that is ever-changing. Its pace is so much that perhaps we're overextending ourselves. People are always looking for things that are updated and modern, hardly ever looking back at past traditions. Clips with the most interactions are ones that include cute and trendy toys. Tò He does not really interest the youth audience as it does not really fit in the today's framework of what is considered "adorable" and "eye-catching" but rather old and outdated.

Vietnam is struggling because they are NOT trying. They need to become actively involved the worldwide online social media scene in order to help their cultural art forms float up in the modern world and become globally recognized.

I think the most effective way to promote Tò he is using social media and online platforms, featuring artisans and showcasing their work. The first reason for this is because almost everyone has access to social media such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, ... By uploading many videos about Tò he on the internet, people can easily reach them and Tò he therefore is widely known. People tend to follow trends which are new to them. Knowing that, Tò he artists can film videos and showcase their work to spread the significant role of Tò he. Secondly, this way doesn't cost much, all one needs to do to make a simple video and upload it on the internet (but remember to add some sound effects to attract the audience). Compared to other methods, this is undeniably the cheapest method. Although it sounds kind of effortless, before starting we still need a well-prepared plan in advance.

Question 1: In our opinion, we believe that the most optimal way to promote To he to friends around the world should be Choice 1: Encouraging policies from the government to support traditional craft villages and artisans.

Firstly, having governments support national traditional craft villages and artisans is straight up effective as tax policies directly affect these people's income. Moreover, governments can also implement policies that enhance craft products' popularity.

Secondly, artisans and craftsmen are usually in traditional villages with less access to up-to-the-minute news (might just be our opinions). Therefore, encouraging public policies from the government will reach these people more easily as it's public, national news and policies usually take effect for quite some time before being adjusted or changed. This will most definitely encourage artisans to keep up the work and motivate younger generations to take up these roles.

Finally, this choice seems more optimal than other choices. Choice 2 is not too effective as creating tailored experiences probably costs (a lot of?) money, which causes considerable inconveniences for non-profit organisations and artisans in collaboration with them. Choice 3 is viable, but it is not very effective as social media nowadays is infested with all kinds of content and ads. Therefore, using these platforms wouldn't make much of a difference to an already-tedious topic to young generations. The last choice, Choice 4 is just not right. Tourists to Vietnam are mostly foreigners, and most of them will only want to have a few hands-on experiences (if not none at all). Vietnamese tourists are even less likely to try those. For all reasons mentioned above, Choice 1 is probably the most optimal way to promote To he to friends around the world.

In my opinion, several factors led to the struggle of Vietnam to promote its culture and cultural art form compared to Japan and China.

One possible reason is that Japan and China have a rich history of cultural preservation and promotion, with well-established traditions, which have been celebrated both domestically and internationally for centuries. On the other hand, Vietnam has faced periods of colonization, wars, and political changes that have disrupted cultural continuity and hindered long-term cultural promotion efforts.

Government investment and support for cultural promotion are also crucial, and Japan and China have made significant investments in infrastructure, institutions, and funding to preserve and promote their cultural heritage. These investments contribute to the visibility and prestige of their cultural art forms. Conversely, Vietnam may encounter challenges in allocating sufficient resources and establishing robust cultural institutions to support promotion efforts.

The awareness of the current generation is a decisive factor in this matter. Children in Japan and China are taught about the national anthem from an early age, which leads them to be grateful for their country's traditional values and eager to promote their culture worldwide. In contrast, Vietnamese teenagers are sometimes neglected and unaware of Vietnamese customs. However, this is not entirely their fault. It should be attributed to the educational system, which prioritizes academic achievement over cultural education.

Language can be a significant barrier to cultural promotion, and Japan and China have a larger global presence due to the widespread use and influence of the Japanese and Chinese languages. This linguistic advantage facilitates the dissemination of cultural content, including literature, films, music, and online media. Vietnamese language, while rich and unique, may have more limited global reach, which can impact the international visibility of Vietnamese cultural art forms.

In conclusion, Vietnam faces several obstacles in promoting its traditional values to the world. However, these can be overcome through collaboration between the Vietnamese citizens and government.

mchangdys1tg

From my perspective, I think the most two optimal ways are utilizing social media platforms and encouraging non-profit organizations.

One of the reasons why social media is a promising choice is because of the vast reach of social media platforms, which have billions of active users worldwide, making them an excellent channel to reach a large and diverse audience. By promoting To He on social media, we have the potential to connect with people from different backgrounds and geographical locations. Besides, To He is a visual art form, and social media platforms excel at showcasing visual content. Platforms like Instagram, Pinterest, and TikTok are particularly conducive to sharing visually appealing content, such as images, videos, and animations. We can leverage these platforms to captivate audiences with stunning visuals related to To He. Furthermore, compared to traditional advertising methods, social media marketing can be cost-effective, especially for small businesses or independent artists promoting To He. Many social media platforms offer free registration and basic features and even paid advertising options often provide a good return on investment due to their targeting capabilities.

Collaboration with non-profit organizations can be a crucial way to promote To He, in addition to social media. By working with non-profits, To He can reach out to a larger audience who may not be familiar with this art form. Non-profit organizations frequently have strong networks and communities that can be utilized to showcase To He to diverse groups of individuals. To He can collaborate with non-profit organizations to offer educational opportunities related to the art form, such as workshops, training sessions, and cultural events. These collaborations can help preserve traditional techniques while also encouraging new interpretations and innovations. Working with artisans in these workshops can be particularly effective in achieving these goals. Participating in non-profit events and initiatives provides To He with the opportunity to connect with potential partners, sponsors, artists, and influencers who share a deep interest in arts, culture, and social causes. These connections can lead to new promotional avenues and collaborations, which can be highly beneficial for To He.

In conclusion, it is worth considering these two promising methods in promoting To He to the worldwide audience

Compared to other East Asian art forms like the well-known art of Chinese brush painting or the global phenomenon of Japanese anime, Tò he faces a steeper climb in terms of international recognition. Traditionally, Tò he may have been crafted primarily for the Vietnamese market, meaning international promotion efforts might be a more recent development. This lack of established international presence can make it harder for people outside of Vietnam to discover this beautiful art form. Furthermore, successfully promoting an art form on a global scale requires significant resources for marketing campaigns, websites, and international events. Some countries, like China and Japan, might have more established cultural promotion infrastructure in place. This can give their art forms a bit of a head start in terms of international awareness. However, the internet and social media are constantly creating new avenues for cultural exchange, and the handcrafted nature and cultural significance of Tò he could find a new audience in the future!

However, there are still ways for Vietnam to overcome these challenges. Here are some ideas:

Highlight what makes Tò he special: Tò he has a fascinating history and a unique creation process. Showcasing these special qualities can help it stand out from similar art forms.

Find the right audience: Not everyone will be interested in everything. By targeting specific groups who might have a particular interest in Vietnamese art or history, Vietnam can focus its promotion efforts. For instance, people interested in folk art or handmade crafts might be a good target audience.

Team up with international artists: Collaborations with established artists from other countries can be a great way to raise awareness of Tò he. This can introduce a whole new audience to the art form and its cultural significance.

Why is Vietnam struggling to promote its culture and cultural art forms effectively, compared to countries like Japan or China, leading to their neglect and disrepute?

Historically Vietnam's history is filled with colonization, wars, and political instability, therefore the preservation and promotion of traditional cultural art forms have been considered unnecessary.

Lack of government support: Unlike Japan and China, which have invested heavily in cultural promotion, Vietnam's government has not provided sufficient funding, resources, and policies for cultural preservation and promotion.

Globalization and modernization: We are currently "running" to keep up with other countries' development, And this has led to the neglect of traditional cultural art forms, as younger generations are more interested in Western culture and contemporary art forms.

Limited exposure: Vietnam's cultural art forms are not well-known outside of the country, which limits their exposure and appreciation by a global audience.

Cultural differences: Most people in Vietnam don't appreciate art because the vietnamese mainly prioritise economic stability and practicality, which makes it difficult for the vietnamese to appreciate art that is abstact or aesthetic. The vietnamese view art as irrelevant, unreachable, and difficult to understand.

Language barriers: The Vietnamese language is not widely spoken outside of Vietnam, making it difficult for artisans to promote and share Vietnamese culture and art forms with non-Vietnamese speakers.

Lack of infrastructure: Vietnam's cultural infrastructure, such as museums, theaters, and cultural centers, is not as developed as in Japan and China, which limits the opportunities for cultural promotion and preservation.

Brain drain: Many talented Vietnamese artists and cultural practitioners have left the country in search of better opportunities and resources, leading to a shortage of skilled practitioners to preserve and promote traditional cultural art forms.

Lack of marketing and branding: Vietnam's cultural art forms have not been effectively marketed and branded to appeal to a global audience, which has limited their popularity and recognition.

Competition from other forms of entertainment: Traditional cultural art forms face stiff competition from modern forms of entertainment, such as movies, music, and video games, which are more accessible and popular among younger generations. We can remedy this problem by showcasing our culture in movies like South Korea.

Lack of awareness and appreciation: Many Vietnamese people are not aware of the rich cultural heritage of their country, and do not fully appreciate the value and significance of traditional cultural art forms. This lack of awareness and appreciation makes it difficult to promote and preserve these art forms.

The question being about the most optimal way, I would only delve into one and expatiate on it. Encouraging non-profit organizations to create tailored experiences, such as artisan collaboration, organizing workshops and cultural events strikes me as the most comprehensive and feasible. I would narrow down the phrase non-profit organizations in general to those that are run by the young generations so as not to cover so many things. Nowadays, there is a section of young people that is keenly aware of this problem and as a result, so many youth communities have already been established to voice concerns about the upkeep of this cultural art form and effect a change. Engaging the young in this culture preservation movement can do justice to Tò he either by their breathing a new life into this art form or blending traditional techniques with modern aesthetics. Strolling around Pho di bo Ha Noi, you can easily chance upon miniature figurines shaped into cartoon characters and stuff. The purpose of these changes is to make this kind of art more accessible to everyone, especially the young who are the direct bearer and keeper of this legacy. The infusion of contemporary elements into Tò he aside, activities such as artisan collaboration, workshops or cultural events all boil down to one thing: making the outside world get to know more about Tò he and help people immerse themselves in it. The essence and diversity of Tò he can be greatly enhanced through the collaboration among experienced artisans, which offer useful insights into this cultural art form for laymen like us to behold Tò he’s in its fullest sense. Besides, hands-on experience is the keystone of each and every workshops and cultural events and if you ask me, I would consider these the most effective and immediate way to become cognizant of a particular art form.

Vietnam's struggle to effectively promote its culture and traditional art forms compared to countries like Japan or China can be attributed to several factors. Firstly, it was social history that partly contributed to the wide discrepancies in cultural identity. It was only when a society reached the harmony of form and function that it could start to focus on developing and fostering cultural factors. Japan and China have a long history of promoting and preserving their traditional culture and art forms while Vietnam has faced periods of colonization and war, which may have disrupted the continuity of its cultural promotion efforts. Secondly, countries like Japan and China have invested significant resources in promoting their cultural heritage through government initiatives, tourism campaigns, and international cultural exchanges. Vietnam may not have allocated as many resources or prioritized cultural promotion to the same extent. Last but not least, Japan and China have achieved global recognition for their traditional art forms such as tea ceremonies, calligraphy, and martial arts, which have helped attract international interest and support. Vietnam's traditional art forms may not have received the same level of global recognition, leading to their neglect and disrepute.

From my perspective, using social media and online platforms, featuring artisans and showcasing their work may be the most optimal way of promoting Tò he to foreigners.

The reason why I choose this kind of promotion is that in this day and age, many people have access to Internet. I’ve seen many short videos on Facebook, Instagram about Vietnamese street food, views, traditional things,... What surprised me is that there were a lots of comments of the foreigners giving compliments and showing great interest. And when foreign tourists search for souvenirs to buy when they visit Vietnam, an aesthetic video or post about Tò he could immediately attract their attention because in addition to the captivating effect of the video/post, Tò he themselves are colorful and delicate. So I believes that promoting Tò he to people from another country through social platform may be the most effective and optimal way.

Vietnam faces some challenges in promoting its culture and cultural art forms compared to its regional neighbors like China and Japan. Firstly, financial limitations and infrastructural shortcomings play a significant role. Allocating funds for large-scale cultural events or international promotion can be difficult and cultural institutions might lack the infrastructure to effectively showcase Vietnamese art forms. Besides, content and marketing is also a key factor. Vietnam lacks established cultural "brands" that resonate internationally compared to, say, Japanese anime or Chinese martial arts films. Futhermore, striking a balance between preserving traditional art forms and incorporating contemporary elements can be tricky as Vietnam is in the period of international integration. In conclusion, addressing resource constraints, adapting content for international audiences, and achieving a balance between tradition and modernity are crucial steps to gaining recognition for Vietnam's culture and traditional art forms.
