The Quote "Wicked is good" is important to the book, because this quote sets the stage for the climax of the book. This is also important because the team with Thomas learns more about WICKED, and there kill zone patterns.

Booklist

Grades 9-12 The exercise in withholding information begun in The Maze Runner (2009) continues. The boys who had their memories wiped before being dropped into a massive maze have escaped, but they now have to trek across a sunflare-blasted wasteland to get the cure to the insanity disease they’ve been infected with. The wickedly violent action and rush to figure out what’s actually going on help distract from a number of gaping plot holes. Fans will want this one, too, but know that Dashner still has an awful lot of explaining to do in the upcoming finale. -- Chipman, Ian (Reviewed 01-01-2011) (Booklist, vol 107, number 9, p107)

I also agree with them!I really liked the book, just like the review stated. I am also upset with the plot, because it left you on your toes and it made you want to know more before the book ended. I hope that the author will explain the plots that had gaps in them. Also I do not like that age limit the author of the book review put. I would say the book should be read by anyone, because it was really great and it had a lot of lit terms and a lot of rising action.

Conflict impacted the book because, during the intro Thomas loses his best friend, and they go on a trip to save her, but she does not want to be saved. Another conflict that Thomas is surviving the trials, because he is the "leader" who can save the planet, from the mind breaking infection of the Scorch. Also Flashbacks are an important lit term in this book, because Thomas keeps on having images pop up/ thoughts about his dear friend that got killed, and also about his lost friend.

The film of this book is really well done just like the book. I have seen it and I really like how it adds action to the story like when they were in the tunnel, it showed the grey darkness of it and personified more on the monster robot from Wicked. Also The movie helped me learn more about the characters facial identity.
