Biodiversity is all the different kinds of life you’ll find in one area—the variety of animals, plants, fungi, and even microorganisms like bacteria that make up our natural world. Each of these species and organisms work together in ecosystems, like an intricate web, to maintain balance and support life. Biodiversity supports everything in nature that we need to survive: food, clean water, medicine, and shelter

We've learned a great bit on what we were doing wrong. Now lets see where we go from here and no matter how big or how small everything we do matters.

There is no Planet B, we have one Earth and we are meant to share it.

Eco-friendly living is a very minute way in which we can all consciously contribute to a better future and live selflessly.

Small ways to contribute include:

1. Minimising and eventually removing plastic from our day to day lives

2. Not supporting companies/manufacturers that compromise ecology and give precedence to profit.

3. Support companies that are in tune with sustainability

4. Always stay educated and a part of the conversation, remember when we lose interest we lose.

5. Remember that 'ego' is not 'eco' our intelligence does not grant us superiority over other beings rather gives us more of a responsibility to protect said beings

6. Spread awareness

7. Donate to organisations that are actively helping the wildlife and ecology

8. Keep planets, start a vegetable patch, if you lack the space keep house planets.

9. Be aware of the animals around you, leave out food and water for birds etc

10. Shop ethically, buy clothes that last a lifetime, don't contribute to landfills. Longevity in clothes is just as important

11. If something is broken or torn, try and fix it, do not throw it out

12. Reuse and repurpose things

13. Most of all be kind and empathetic!!!

Along with this constantly educating ourselves as well as being actively a part of the conversation is vital. Ignorance does not make the problem go away and does not rid you of duty.

While these issues are addressed everyday and newer technology allows us to harness these renewable sources. The biggest benefit is that a renewable source of energy can be more easily replenished as compared to that of the finite resource of fossil fuels.

Along with this, we need to redefine how we look at energy consumption, as renewable sources can pose the same threat to the planet if not harnessed ethically.

However, each year the mouths to feed increases and our production is not up to mark. If anything substandard food that further hinders health is produced whose production does irreparable damage to the environment.

On top of habitat loss due to clearing, unsustainable agricultural practices are seeing 12 million hectares of land lost each year to desertification.

Food production is one of the primary causes of biodiversity loss through habitat degradation, overexploitation of species such as overfishing, pollution, and soil loss. Even though its environmental impacts are immense, the current food system is expected to expand rapidly to keep up with projected increases in population, wealth, and animal-protein consumption.

Solution:

In order to reconcile biodiversity, conservation and sustainable development, a policy mix that combines both regulatory and non-regulatory approaches is needed.

Even Though this issue is multifaceted such solutions are a vital start towards bettering this faulty system. Moreover, one must always be aware of what they're consuming, where it comes from etc. Information is key.

However, it is not that simple, mostly this waste ends up in landfills that rise as big as mountains and slowly poison the land around it. Along with this our waste has seemed to find its way into the most remote ecosystems on the planet which is a dangerous omen of the future.
