I know the instructions only ask for one person, but these two pretty much are the same person.

My mum and my nan are the most inspirational women in my life. I can honestly say I would not be who and were I am today without either one of them.

Sadly we lost my nan a number of years ago now, but she was a force of nature! She was little but feisty and had the respect of everyone she came into contact with. She was an amazing role model and something I try to emulate from her everyday is her unwavering ability to accept and encourage people to be true to themselves.

My mum is all that amazingness from my nan and more. She has always encouraged me to be myself and to be self-aware. I did not appreciate that at all when I was younger but as an adult that self-awareness is what allows me to cope in this amazingly crazy world!!

They are both an inspiration to me every day!

I want to share with you four people who have been my hope and encouragement throughout my life. Sadly, I only had a short time with my mother Phyllis as she passed away when I was 16 years old. But in those 16 years she imparted on me the importance of being loving, kind, never be afraid to face challenges head on and most importantly be proud of the person I would become. I have missed her advise and comforting smile every day. I wish with all my heart that my beautiful daughters Hannah and Kirsten could have met and experienced the love she would have given them as their Nan.

I have been so fortunate to have two amazing friends in my life Luisa and Kerry, who have been my rocks in times of doubt and personal struggles. Their friendship comes packed with love, trust, without judgement and has been a constant in my life.

Lastly, I wish to mention my beautiful girls Hannah and Kirsten. As a parent I am so proud of the wonderful women they have become but I never imagined they would be my daily inspiration to believe in myself. To be confident in my abilities, follow may passions and to remind me that I am capable of anything if I put my mind to it.

Thank you, I feel so privileged to have you in my life.

My inspiration is my mum.

She’s been there for me through thick and thin and no matter what she will always be there. I can always count on her to help me through tough times or even if I just need to have a chat with someone.

She’s one of those people who you feel so comfortable around and know you can tell them anything and they’ll listen. She’s trusting, loving, caring, the list can go on and on. Which just shows how much of a special person she is.

She’s inspired me to play hockey and to be able to play on the same team as her week after week is honestly a dream come true and I’ll treasure every game with her.

My mum is the kindest person I know, she’s the best mum in the world and I honestly don’t know what I would do without her. I love her to bits.

My mother, who I called Bibi, inspired me to understand the value women's contributions to society. Over the course of my life she has taught me to overcome many obstacles and the importance of having a voice to speak up against any injustice. She was unique and respected all religions and said all paths lead to one (inclusiveness). She always inspired us to work hard and accept all challenges because there are opportunities within. She had a charitable heart and empathy for sick and poor and never walked away from helping (respect and dignity). She would say 'God is not found in churches, mosque or temples but resides within a human being.' She encouraged a culture of inspiration, to conquer all personal challenges, to believe in yourself and inspire others too.

Hi all my inspiration is my daughter Nicola she will be 44 in April. Our journey started when she was born and her 6 weeks check found she had a heart murmur. As she got old other checks found a small hole in the heart but needed no treatment just regular checks which is good. When Nicola was 7yrs old she developed poly arthritis which affected all her small joints, so she then became very tired couldn't walk far as her ankles hurt but she would it going and doing as much as she could. Nicola has had lots of treatment and still takes lots of meds. She now has rheumatoid arthritis and had Ankle, knees, hips, shoulders, and elbow replacements. She just go's for it to get on with her life. Never complains even when there is pain and tiredness. She works as does not want to be sitting at home doing nothing. Nicola has a lovely son who will be 7yrs soon and he was a Ivf baby which Nic only had one egg but it worked he was born prem 30 weeks and weighted 2lb 14oz on oxygen for 8 mths and is a very healthy boy. So proud of how Nicola copes with everything. Then a couple of years ago had some blemishes on her back which had to be cut out as cancer. This needed skin graft as the area was quite big. She is a real trooper what more can I say.

She works as a service assistant in a hospital, which involves a lot of physical work. Despite this, she takes pride in her job and continues to work with dedication. My mother got married at a young age and went on to have ten children. I am the ninth child in the family. Although she was a strict mother, she never neglected to show us love. I feel honored to be her daughter. I hope to make my children as proud of me as I am of my own mother."

Michelle and Laurian serve our global communities in the areas of human rights, diversity, equity and environment. I am so proud to have my sisters in my life and in the lives of my children. Our ancestors from Wales and Trinidad are smiling about and cheering my sisters' impact on the world.

For my inspiring woman, I have chosen my mum - funnily enough, co-created this amazing project!

Mum inspires me with the hard work and creativity that she puts into everything. When designing and creating resources, events or programmes, her natural ability and individual flair shine through. Her example, and the support she's unconditionally given, let me know I can reach for whatever goal I set my sights on (but also that it's okay to stumble along the way!).

I think what inspires me most about Mum is the time and care that she invests in people around her. She always gives so much of herself (maybe sometimes too much!) to not only friends and family but also to others, especially the young people she's keen to support. Her innate want to help others has definitely inspired me to try and follow suit.

Very proud of you and to be celebrating you as part of international women's day this year, Mum.

She came through the second World War with her family as Latvian refugees and then eventually as immigrants to Canada. She instilled in me a great appreciation for Canada and what it means to live here. She cared for me while my mother worked, cooked delicious meals, and held large extended family events. She lives forever in my heart, and I will always appreciate her strength, kindness, and love. Thank you Babu for continuing to inspire me everyday xoxo.

Recently I visited an exhibition in London dedicated to the work of the legendary Coco Chanel.
For me, this is a woman who revolutionized the fashion world. This is a style icon not only of the past, but also of the current century. She inspires me with her talent, taste, elegance, hard work, extravagance, independence and love of freedom.
During her 60-year career, she became famous as Coco Chanel, a complex, sometimes controversial figure who transformed women's wardrobes with her innovative ideas.
Chanel, who liked to wear her own clothes, created clothes for active, independent women like herself. She created modern clothes according to the principles of comfort, and ease of movement. We call her style "simple luxury"
The legendary perfume she created was the first perfume with a complex, multi-component scent. I love the entire line of Chanel perfumes.
Throughout her work, Chanel demonstrated not only the enduring relevance of her aesthetic, but also the flexibility and strength of her unique style. She always believed in herself and her dream. And this message is very important to me.

I met Terri and Tina, two mental health counsellors in Gravesham, a couple of months later. They were so passionate about our cause, without hesitation, they offered to help us navigate the counselling world and became part of the voluntary team. Their support and ongoing dedication, always being there, have truly helped shape what EHMF is today. Thank you.

Pete and Kerry x

The person who inspires me is my mother, because she has faced a lot of difficulties in her life. Exactly 41 years ago while there was heavy fighting ongoing between Russia and Afghan Mujahideen within the Panjshir Villa, my Mom was pregnant and escaped the village along with other family members who walked about 2 hrs on the high mountain to hide themselves from the Russian bombing. She was lucky to find a big stone with a hole space so at least she can hide and spend a night there but with no food and no water. Then early in the morning on that day she was faced with a very bad labor (birth pain) until she birthed a twin sons. This was the day my twin brother and I were born. It was exactly around the time the Russian army fired and tested their two new types of rockets, so from that time on our cousin and relatives called us Rocket and Hawan (Russian Mortar) because we were born on the day when the Russian Army fired thousand of rockets in our village in a day. Then she decided to leave the area as soon as possible to keep us safe. She had to walk at least 110km from the high mountains of Panjshir Villa to the Kabul city, Afghanistan capital. My mum is the kindest person I know, she is not only a mum she is a good teacher in my life and I hope one day I can return all the favours she has done for us. Afghanistan celebrate International Women’s Day while Afghanistan Women are fighting for #Freedom and #Equality at the cost of their lives and freedom; But I fully believe that these voices will define freedom and write the headlines in the history of freedom in Afghanistan on the day of freedom.

If she wasn't there I wouldn't of been so proud of myself. She always pushed me to try new things for example when I nearly gave up for driving but my mum never lost hope in me. And amazingly I passed my driving test in one go.We are five sisters and brothers unfortunately when my father passed away my mum raised all of us with lots of love, care and encouragement. She believes that if you keep trying you can achieve anything. I always pray for my mum. She is my hero.

I would like to tell about an amazing woman Hedy Lamarr. She was called the Hollywood Star and the most beautiful woman in the world. She considered her beauty as a curse: she was worshiped as an actress, but not noticed as a scientist.

She was born in 1913 in Vienna, in the family of a banker. Thanks to her father she had the desire to study.

From 1930 Hedy started to act in films. In 1937 she moved to the USA and continued to act in many films in Hollywood.

However, apart from cinema, Hedy loved science, she set up a laboratory in her house, and in 1942 she and George Antheil ,a composer ,were granted a patent for the creation of "Scratch Communication Systems".

But their idea was skeptical and only later it was used in the US military communication system satellites.

This idea is now used in Bluetooth, GPS and WiFi.

In 2000, Lamarr died. She was inducted posthumously into the American Inventors Hall of Fame. She is considered the "mother of WiFi."

Lamar was convinced "People's brains are more interesting than their looks."

Gbowee organized Christian and Muslim women to engage in peaceful protests, including a sex strike and mass prayer gatherings, demanding an end to the violence. Her efforts helped bring about a peace agreement and paved the way for the election of Liberia's first female president, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.

This is a self portrait I had created last year as a part of my a level art class. The task was to create a portrait of yourself, experimenting with colours. I created this painting by putting a large piece of paper on a wall and then next to it, propping up a mirror to continually reference myself. I had also created a page of references of myself from different times and angles. I think this portrait reflects a part of me that is very unsure of myself, as I have always struggled with trying to understand myself truly. I prefer to paint myself dispite it really never feeling like a true reflection of myself and I think that might be because I feel like I expected myself to be a certain way because that’s what society has told me to think about myself.

Simone Veil is born in the 13 July 1927 in France. Born into a Jewish family, she was deported to Auschwitz at the age of 16. After studying law and political science, she entered the judiciary as a senior civil servant. In 1974, she was appointed Minister of Health and made abortion legal in France. She therefore appears as an icon of the fight against discrimination against women in France.

For my painting, I use green because for me it’s the colour which represent freedom. I also try to make a portrait which represent the most her.

We chose as woman of the year Rosa Parks. In 1955, she refused to give up her bus seat to a white man in Montgomery, Alabama, defying segregation laws. Her courageous act led to the Montgomery Bus Boycott, a crucial event that propelled the movement forward and highlighted the injustices of racial segregation. Parks' steadfast commitment to equality and justice made her an enduring symbol of resistance and change, earning her widespread recognition and respect.

Born on the lush island of St. Lucia, Anastasia’s early years were shadowed by trauma as she grew up in a turbulent household, marked by the echoes of violence. Her mother became a drug addict after the father left the family to marry another woman when Anastasia was only 2 years old. At the age of 12, her sister which tried her best to care of her, died due to lung cancer.

At 16, she finally left home, without even graduating from high school and life didn’t get any easier for her for the next years. With every challenge faced, from sleeping in shelters to working multiple jobs at the same time, grace would become her foundation since she met a boy that taught her mediation and that’s how she learned to let go of her past. Education became her beacon of hope; she pursued it relentlessly, eventually earning a degree in social work.

So Anastasia decided to use her own experience and knowledge to help others overcome trauma and finding their way to deal with it. As a counselor, she brings profound empathy and wisdom to those she aids, having walked through so many horrible things herself before. The scars of her past remain, but they are not her chains; they are the testament to her journey and the source of her formidable strength, that’s how she describes herself now.
