After the arrest of Adnan for Hae Min Lee's murder, Asia McClain wrote a letter to Adnan claiming that she had seen him in the library at the time the murder supposedly occurred. However, she was never contacted as a possible alibi prior to the trial. When later asked about the case, she denied any part of it.

Crime Scene

At the scene where the body was found, there was a rope and a bottle of bourbon laying beside the grave. Neither were tested for possible DNA. This is reasonable doubt that could go in Adnan's favor if the defense had brought it up during the trial.

Best Buy

Unfortunately in 1999 Best Buy did not have cameras that showed that Jay or Adnan was present there on the 13th of February. Also they had no recollection of ever having a pay phone outside the building. In Jay's story, he claims to have seen Adnan standing next to a payphone outside Best Buy. However, the plans of the building never shows a place for a payphone. If this is true, then Jay's story falls apart.

Cell records

During the day of the murder, Adnan made and received many calls. Each call had to ping off of a cell phone tower. When coupled with Jay's timeline of that day's events, the cell phone records do not match what the witness says. For example, the phone never pings off of the tower closest to where Jay said they went that afternoon and talked to Aisha.

Route

The route in which Adnan would have needed to take to complete the murder within the states timeline would have been nearly unrealistic. Everything needed to go perfect if Adnan was going to kill Hae and call Jay. First, the buses had to be cleared before the car drivers could leave. Secondly, he would have needed to get to best buy and strangle Hae in the time remaining. When reconstructed by Mrs. Koenig, they were able to complete this feat right before time expired, however there was doubt that he could strangle Hae in less than one minute. The time after the murder did not come close to the states timeline though.

Summer

Hae's friend Summer claims to have talked to Hae from 2:30 to 2:45. If this is true, then there is no way Adnan could have committed this murder. The state says she was killed by 2:36 p.m. Summer, if telling the truth, proves Adnan's innocence.
