Moreover, the student strictly followed the questions he prepared instead of asking more questions to further explore whatever topic was brought up which may bring more discomfort to the interviewee and show the interviewee that the student is not genuinely interested. The student should attempt to make the interview feel as natural as possible. Moreover, the student should have asked permission to write with a paper and pen during the interview. The student did not attempt to build rapport by asking general questions or making small talk. Closed-ended, questions with single word answers were asked, so there was no opportunity to expand on the topics brought up.
