As I wasnt in on the Monday, I asked a few members of my class what went on during the lesson.

They had to discuss as a class what Milton Keynes meant to them, good or bad.

There were 2 groups, one of 7 and one of 6.

Sydney's group decided that there was a fair bit they kept out of the home sweet home project that they wanted to include, so they based their sketch on those things, finally using the MK theatre as their inspiration, using some people as exhibits with an uninterested son and his mother.

Then in the afternoon they were with Kate. They sat down and all thought about what Milton Keynes is to them, good or bad, whatever came to mind. This is where the script came from. The ideas all came from them and we made the Script 'Milton Keynes is...' The script is everything that Kate found them saying and it ended up looking really good and we had a lot of information about Milton Keynes. The context was changed so many times so it wasn't the same the whole time.

We started off by doing a task involving picking a random slip of paper with either a command on it or a line we wrote on Monday. We had to run up to the middle of the room and pick one which we then said or did the action that was given to us.

This was a bit of a shambles at first as you couldn't hear any one specific line from one person. Everyone was saying their lines at the same time and they layered over each other creating a busy scene.

When we identified this as a group, we re-did the exercise, this time communicating with each other and creating a more orderly piece. Even though it was better than the previous time, there were still faults like the space being slightly overcrowded at times, and a few overlaying lines but overall, the exercise was so much better the second time around.

Next, we were split into three different groups to devise our own piece like what we did in the first task using some of the words in the pot and the other words that were written out in a poem form. We were also asked to include some actions to go with these words/phrases by using some techniques we learned in our physical theatre session to try and capture the audience's attention.

None of us could understand what to do at first as we got really confused with what to do with the words and phrases we were given. I didn't really understand the first task so I got a bit frustrated. Everything was being explained to the rest of the group but I felt as if I was excluded from the conversation. So I decided to follow along and see if I could eventually understand the task we were given.

After about 10 minutes, we all finally understood what to do and explored some previous movement when we were learning about physical theatre. We got into pairs, of which there were three, which formed our group. In these pairs, we all picked three words each to say in turn and the order these words would be said in. We then organised a few formations and actions which we would use and so we ran through combining these to create a small spoken theatre piece.
