Every bit of plastic that has been created over time still exists on the earth in one shape or another, and a considerable amount of it ends up into our oceans, 8 million tons per year in fact. And with this information Jana and Matthew became inspired to bring light on the astounding amount of plastic that is polluting our oceans, and to inspire people to make a change for the better.

Jana Cruder's thoughts on art activism...

I emailed Jana Cruder with a couple of questions and one of them was "What inspires you to use art in the impactful way that you do", and Jana replied

"It is the one biggest art medium all can experience, relate to and feel. When we bring art into public spaces great things happen. It's a platform to address some of the biggest challenges we face as a population and its an area we all can come to the table on. Art is undeniably a part of all our hearts. I also believe that when people experience, interact and have a personal impression from there we can really engage and create opportunities for change."

This in a certain way explains the effect and impact of the public art that Jana created. She used a platform that would communicate with anyone no matter what language you spoke, religion you believed, or personal ideologies you had. If you saw this piece it moved you, and when you find out the real information out there on how much pollution is going into our ocean it REALLY moves you.
