Specifically, the method has been widely applied to news articles that researchers consider to be inadequate of journalistic standards, for example, concerns for inequality implied in content analyses that intend to demonstrate the unfair coverage of media of an issue (Krippendorff, 1989). Gender bias is one of the inequality issues in media coverage; thus, the feasibility of content analysis on the topic is granted.

According to the results of the analysis, nearly half of the in-depth reports on Harris focused on her traits, especially her race and immigrant family background.
Here is an example taken from the New York Times:
"Ms. Harris, a child of immigrants from Jamaica and India, could truly claim she was Black. " (Karni & Peters, 2020)
2. Tone of the coverage
In reading through the news stories, one image of Harris emerged. She was portrayed as a intelligent, hard-working and talented black woman who  strives for higher office. Most reports are optimistic about her nomination, claiming that she brings to the race "a far more vigorous campaign style than Mr. Biden’s" (Glueck, Burns, Vigdor, & Kaplan, 2020).
3. Issues gendering
The highlighted issues in coverage of Kamala Harris are health care, policing, race, education, and abortion.
