The simple elements I picked up quickly was how to bring up options quickly you would need to hold control and right click over a section of text or sound to edit. 

This proved to be a quick way of deleting the audio from the footage so that we did not have any video sound within the song. This was effective as we did not have a mix of sounds therefore leading the audience to get confuse with whether the video is a music promo or not. Furthermore as Adobe Elements gives you the ability to play more than one video at the same time I could easily do a cross fade through putting the image I want on top above the image I want below and reducing the opacity so that the video under neither could show through. Additionally with this effect you can select a point in which you want it to start (fade in) and end (fade out.) I think this was effective as you could blend videos to continue the theme at the beginning as well as denote the meaning of the narrative whilst there is a performance. 

As well as being able to do the cross fade I could all do a split screen which is also known as a two shot; through clicking on the footage I want to change, going to motion, scale and changing it 50 then making my left video as 480 and 560 to get it in the middle and the same each time. However for the other side I would do the same however in the first position option I would need to make it 1440 so that it was on the right side of the screen next the footage already on the screen. This was proven a successful editing technique as throughout the audience feedback it was recognised as an effective and memorable.

In my first draft I was making the video smaller and manually moving it into position which proved to not work well as it was not always in line, therefore making the video look unprofessional. Other ways I have developed on my editing in in my thriller last year we were able to change the effects such as lighting and more but through this year I have learnt that doing minimal than excessive effects can make the video look more natural. Last year in AS I was trying to make the video look dark and mysterious due to the task and thriller genre. Other editing techniques that I developed was how to slow, speed up and reverse a clip. To do this you would need to select the clip and right click and follow to the option of time stretch to do any of these options by changing the speed or selecting reverse. I think that this was effective as I could slow down a time laps that was too fast for the effect that I was looking for. 

Furthermore I could reverse a piece of footage to connote how it is going back in time and after seeing a video with a mirror background I set out to find out to do it. After copying and pasting the video footage I want to mirror, through going on to editing effects I could search for a horizontal flip, I would put this on one of my videos usually the left and then on both I would search for crop and drag the effect over to both clips. With this I could then select at what point I want to mirror the image and drag the sections of left and right to where I want as well as drag to the correct positioning. 

But to finish and improve our video we thought that incorporating the text can synergise the texts together. I did this the same way that I would import the footage but it would be Photoshop text images that I created through the magic wand and paint bucket tool. Overall I think that I have improved on my editing skills as I could only do simple elements such as vox pops and focus groups on iMovie but since AS I have developed into using other software’s and developing my editing so that I can now do split screens, slow motion, reverse, add images, mirror effect and more although I could do simple elements it would not of been good for a professionally looking video.

For our advert and digipak as it is an upbeat happy song we wanted to reflect this I our advert and digipak therefore we had a close up image of each of the people within the band so that we could represent them each clearly. But throughout the photo-shoot we tried to each act natural so that we can represent what the songs are about.
