i.     An example for a nurse to meet this indicator is by accepting his/her responsibility for its own behavior and work ethics. Practicing accountability in nursing requires willingness to acknowledge your role in situations either good or bad. 

     ii.     Example: A nurse neglected to note a patient’s penicillin allergy during the initial intake process, without proper record or indication of the allergy, the following shifts administered the drug to the patient and went into anaphylactic shock. You stand in this situation by accepting the consequences to be investigate and for trial.

     i.     An example for a nurse to meet this indicator is by when nurse use their critical thinking skills and commitment to continue competence by continually improving their nursing practice.

     ii.     Example: a nurse attends trainings, seminar and symposium (ex; Effective leadership Strategies, Legalities of Nursing Documentations and etc.) this is showing that their dedication to learn will gain and widen more competence in their field of work.

     i.     An example for a nurse to meet this indicator is by promoting fair treatment toward all individuals and denounce discrimination for any reason.

     ii.     Example: Patient refuse to have blood transfusion. (Jehovah’s witnesses) because they believe that it is against God’s will. Respect their beliefs without judging them. They have the right to refuse. (Mps, Medical Protection Society)

     ii.     Examples: using relevant textbook, reading materials, Listening to Research recording related on nursing and etc. (Teaching and learning resources – selecting appropriate materials: Policy)

     i. A nurse demonstrates this standard by taking action to stop abuse and reporting it appropriately

          · An example for a nurse to meet this indicator is by building and helping relationship that’s base on mutual trust and respect.

Example : if you see that your patient is in the case of addiction to alcohol and drugs, you can talk and give your advice to them to seek therapist that may support them immediately to prevent from abuse and keep them safe from harm, injury, damage, or loss.

b.     Professional Relationships

     i.     A nurse demonstrates this standard by demonstrating conflict-resolution skills

  · An example for a nurse to meet this indicator is by resolving problem or dispute in a positive way and still maintain a healthy and happy relationship with the other party involved.

Example : You notice that in the patient medication chart that the nurse didn’t countersign on the medication that she gave, you try to talk about the actions rather than the person. In that appropriate way rather than blaming her action that she forgot to sign in the chart, showing  this genuine action you can keep your relationship with your co-worker with respect and honesty.
