Fahrenheit 451 follows Guy Montag a fireman in a Utopian city. In Montag's world the firemen start the fires instead of putting them out. This society follows many strict rules based on censorship and other topics. The people in this society do not read books, they rely heavily on technology using wall size televisions and listening to a radio in their ears. When Montags meets a young girl names Clarisse Mclellan who breaks the norms of society by engaging in conversation and having questions, she opens his eyes to the dark empty world they are living in. Over the next few days Montag spirals into a deep questioning over books and how they are viewed in the society. Montag witnesses an old woman take her own life because she did not want to live any longer without her books. A few days later he hears that Clarisse has been killed by a speeding car. Montag is so dissatisfied with this society he begins to rebel and stash his own books. overwhelmed with the rules and readins Montag turns to his wife mildred for help but she is so consumed with technology she cannot see why he would ever want to read in the first place. Montag reunites with an old friend of his named Faber to help him understand and memorize books. They use a two way radio earpiece to converse. Mildred so consumed in the utopian society turned in Montag and his obsession with books. The chief fireman Captian Beatty forces Montag to burn his own house down, while Beatty is yelling at Montag, Montag turns the flamethrower on Beatty killing him. Now Montag is on the run, from the people in the society and the mechanical hounds. While Montag is running away he meets a guy named Granger and his friends. They welcome him in and teach him more about books. In the distance they see bombs heading toward Montags society. Montag and Granger return to the city to help rebuild it and start fresh hopeful to include books into a new future.

A big theme we see in Fahrenheit 451 is censorship. not only is it a huge topic in the book, the book itself is also ironically banned in the US.

This book covers topics that we see in the world today with censorship. The books shows government ruling and burning books to keep the knowledge away from the people, just like how in our world today the government is banning books that include heavier topics that could be controversial to some.

We see a huge example of a technology obsessed society in Fahrenheit just like how our world seems to be becoming like. Reading this book was like "Omg is this about us?" Ray Bradbury did an amazing job of depicting what a futuristic society would look like because we are almost there.

In the book they have television that fill up every wall of their homes. They have radios to put in their ears when feeling stressed or overwhelmed to drown out the complicated thoughts. Almost like airpods.

Our world and our society now is so consumed with technology that we are loosing the aspect of real conversation and real human interactions because its all done online now with AI and virtual reality to escape from this real reality just like Fahrenheit 451.

Animal farm and Fahrenheit 451 are both similar books in the way they have dictatorship ruling over a society.

In animal farm the leader Napoleon uses fear and lies to control the animals on the farm. Just as Captain Beatty/the firemen use fear to control the society and their view of knowledge.

In animal farm only the pigs are aloud to know how to read or spell, and in Fahrenheit 451 the firemen are a loud to only have one book of their choice on them while the others in the society are limited and not aloud to read as it would give them more knowledge.
