Spies affected the Revolutionary war by secretly passing messages by pretending to work for or to support the opponent. The Rebels had secret codes and they used secret writing techniques. They used invisible ink and masked letters to secretly pass messages and plans to the rebel leaders. Different rebel spies even gained the trust of the British in order to get their information. Sadly, if the British found out they were spies, they would execute them. You would be lucky to be a spy and get away.

How the Battle Of Saratoga Helped America Win the Reveloutionary War.

The Battle of Saratoga was the turning point in the American Revolution. The Battle of Saratoga consisted of 2 fights. General John Burgoyne wanted to invade America by going down the Hudson Valley to Albany with his troops. He would meet up with other British troops from New Jersey. Burgoyne and his army successfully advanced south, and recaptured Fort Ticonderoga from the Americans, then continued to march south.
The Americans then started to provoke the British. They would cut down trees to block paths, and shot from trees. Burgoyne's plan was starting to fail. He was running out of food, and moving slow. The first battle of Saratoga took place on September 19, 1777. Britain won.
After that battle, Americans set up their defenses at Bemis Heights. On October 7, 1777 the British attacked. They failed very badly and America won. General Burgoyne was forced to retreat. Within days, America had Britain surrounded. The British surrendered on October 17, 1777. The Americans confidence was boosted and the country now felt it could win the war. The French decided to join America in the Revolution as allies and support the Americans with military aid and supplies.

During the night of December 25, Washington lead his troops across the ice-swollen Delaware about 9 miles north of Trenton. The weather was horrendous and the river treacherous. Raging winds combined with snow, sleet and rain to produce almost impossible conditions. To add to the difficulties, a significant number of Washington's force marched through the snow without shoes. The next morning they attacked to the south, taking the Hessian's by surprise and over-running the town. After fierce fighting, and the loss of their commander, the Hessian's surrendered.
